Arrow [New Version] XIAOMI Mijia ALPD3.0 Non- UST Laser Projector 2400 ANSI Lumens Topic

New released mijia long throw laser projector.

What I like:
1. 2400 Ansi Lumen brightness
2. ALPD 3.0 Laser technology
3. Supports 4K and 8K
4. No more coil whine noise

What I dont like:
1. not 4K resolution
2. Price is little bit higher

No more coil whine noise and No 4K??? If true: one step forward two steps back through it is a budget release so maybe that's why.

There is already a thread dedicated to this projector. Can we get this merged?

There are some advantages, I think.
Since it’s a non-UST, you don’t need a special screen which is really expensive. And image can easily distorted with UST.
It supports 8K (they claimed).
It would be better if it was 4K.

I just saw the other topic, we can merge under this topic if you want. It just contains some photos from web.

First real test of non-UST Xiaomi laser PJ. User says it's far more than normal projector because of laser tech.
Resolution and picture is sharp and clear. Here is the video

I received mine, I can already say it's one of the most discreet spotlights on the market. The image is excellent with always the best contrast available from a 0.47 chip.

Hope you share more samples and opinions here. We are expecting some more tests if possible.
And I really want to compare it with XGIMI RS Pro.

Can you please play this video in a dark condition and upload here?

The test is online, in conclusion it's a success. The English version is at the end of the article.

Thanks again @kraine for your contributions to the community.

It feels like the dam is about to burst with lots of lower cost, solid picture quality laser projectors flooding the market. I'm personally happy that several have a throw ratio around 1.2 which works perfect in my room. I've heard some very positive comments on the Optoma UHL55 too. If we were purely comparing picture quality on 4k HDR material, it would be interesting to see which would come out on top: LG HU70, Optoma UHL55, or this new Xiaomi. I would assume Xiaomi would be putting out a 4k version of this one also. Then, Viewsonic is supposed to have the X100 early Spring.

4K, WCG, laser, quiet, bright with over 2000 lumens in a few modes, 1600-1800 in Cinema style preset, at the price (at least in China) of a UHD50/300x? Great.
The 1000:1 contrast is not fantastic, only a few models can achieve a higher figure in this price range: HC3200/3800, HT3550 and TK850(?), all with an active iris.

Except for a few Benq models that can reduce the color wheel speed, 4K DLP can't run 24p natively, it does 3:2 pulldown on 60Hz, or interpolates from 24 to 30Hz on the UHD52ALV.
Can this model do 24p natively?

Can it run 120Hz in 1080p?

Hopefully more companies start using this ALPD Laser technology.

I fail to see success here. It's a native 1080p projector in year 2020

2000 lumens calibrated. 114% DCI-P3 coverage. Laser. $1000. Pay attention.

1080p>4K pixel shifters can be very sharp, I don't think there is an issue here.
And what about ANSI contrast of 549:1. You can't do that with JVC.

I think you are all confused, this is NOT a 4k pixel shifter, it's native 1080p which will upscale up to 4k. So for $1k it's not worth the price, there are bunch of 1080p led projectors which are cheaper.
I recently upgrade from native 1080p UST to 4k pixel shifter and difference in sharpness is obvious with 4k content.

I think this is correct, the way the projector is described in some places is not accurate:

First link is for 4k pixel shifter ust. Second link doesn't describe anything being 4k pixel shifter. Reviewer above stated its a 1080p native projector

If this is $1,000 then it's a good deal. The ability to handle 4k and down-rez it to 1080P is a huge benefit. I have a splitter that does down-rezing and the resulting image is much better than a native 1080P image. How it handles HDR is important. There can be issues there on the resulting image color.

The problem with the dlp 4K pixel shifters is that the contrast and black levels are horrid. I've sent two of them back because of this.

If this shows up on Amazon or eBay as a US supported product I would jump on it. Don't waste your money on these $1K to $2.5K shifters. You won't be sorry going this way. I think Kraine would agree with me.

I did some digging around, it's just a native 1080p projector just like Xiaomi UST 1080p which simply upscales to 4k resolution, but it's far cry from those 4k pixel shifters. That's disappointing. Also, pricing is a bit higher actually it looks like it's right in line with Xiaomi UST 1080p which was recently dropped in price.

What? Now you're confusing me. Could someone please chime in who knows 100% if its called upscaling or downscaling when a native 1080p chip is able to show 4k? Seems only logical that this should be called downscaling since you are reducing the image pixel count from 4k to 1080p yes? this is not taking into account pixel shifting.

You are correct, that post was confusing indeed. This is a 1080p projector that can take a 4k signal, which means it needs to downscale it to 1080p in order to project it.

you are right downscaling sorry for confusion, but the meaning the same it's just a 1080p projector
