UHD30 has a 1.1x zoom and no lens shift. The other specs seem very similar:

Thanks!

Do they have the same TI 0.47” chipset that ht3550 and tk850 have?

It is similar in dimensions, but the UHD50X/UHD30 .47in DMD can operate at higher frequency.

Ok, I assume it has something to do with refresh rate?

Yes, the uhd30/50x DMD can operate at up to 240hz vs 120hz of the earlier design.

I found out if you really mess with the 50x's colors, you can get a more theater quality image out of it.

I've been in CMS altering color values and intensity though.
The yellows were too mustardy and the blues were not punchy enough. Altering those values improved the picture.
I had to bump up the color output to about 15 too but then dragged it down to about 7 after intensifying the blues

Curious if anyone else who owned this came to similar conclusions... out of the box it is washed out but you can trade some of its light output to bring the colors back in

You definitely seem to either get light output or colors with a DLP machine. The colors are much punchier now but I seem to have traded a good portion of the available light to get this.

Yeah, I saw that, but I hoped someone could check with an actual projector. Surely we don't have to use 1080i in 2020? That would be annoying if that were the case. My old BenQ can do 1080p SBS just fine.

I'm fairly certain that Optoma is stating that the UHD50X is SBS 3D ready, since when XPR is disabled the 1080P DMD still has the same abilities as the DMD in your BenQ. However, you can buy from a vendor that will allow for a full refund if it turns out to be incompatible.

Of course, I would buy from a shop with a good return policy. However, I thought it would be easier to have someone who owns the projector try to turn on SBS 3D at 1080p60 and report back. Should be a quick test!

Negatory ghost rider and I've tried several PCs and a UHD player

Windows you get to run the red/blue and i believe if you bought the nvidia setup and their glasses it would work for movies on the PC

I can't get 3D to work at all on this unit, like the DLP Link glasses won't sync at all...

Anyone have any 3D issues?

There's definitely something weird about this projector.

I came from a TK850 and it seems like it's not as sharp, and the contrast or colors seem worse. There's only so much I can EQ on it but so far I'm leaning towards going for the TK850.

I had high hopes for this unit and maybe I'm just not calibrating it correctly so I'll keep trying but I just don't know.

Was this using frame packing? Could you check out the SBS options at 1080p? Thank you!

It was a standard BR Disc.

No need to hook up a hard drive... If you can just display a 1080p60 source (like a PC), can you check if there's any way to manually activate SBS 3D? Thank you!

You don't even need to play a video at all, although you could if you want to (see link in the previous post). Just make sure your source device is set to plain 1080p60 (it almost certainly won't work with 4K or HDR) and then try to manually activate SBS 3D. If it starts 3D, that's what I'd like to know. To do this, go into the menu, set Display->3D->3D Mode to On, and Display->3D->3D Format to SBS. Thank you again!

Exclamation Disappointing 3D and gaming...

Hi all,

I have 2 major issues with "this" projector. (i own the Optoma UHD30, but should be the same specs regarding the 3D and "Enhanced gaming" feature as i'm led to believe).

1 - Is there anyway to do Full-SBS 3D with this projector like i can on my old tv? Games with at only Half-SBS look awfull... When i use a Full-SBS 1080P source, the projector interprets it as a 2160P source (is it looking at the 3840 width of the source instead of the height?)... ofc giving me no option to even enable 3D ... (btw, as a workaround, is there anyway to do SBS to frame sequential conversion on the fly in a pc to retain full resolution at 60fps?)

2 - When i turn on "Enhanced Gaming" option on a 2160P 60Hz source, the output resolution of the projector is downgraded to only 1080P ... turning off "Enhanced gaming" brings back 4K screen resolution.
Is it supposed to be like that? If it is then it feels like false advertising to me since i was expecting the low input lag at 4K output resolution to the screen...

Low input lag is always present.

Enhanced gaming just puts it at 240hz refresh rate, which cannot be done in 4K. If you're on 4K60 the input lag still seems less than 25.

So you're saying that the Enhanced gaming mode only lowers the input lag of 1080p 120Hz and 240Hz?
Assuming that, at 60Hz the input lag is the same, regardless of turning on Enhanced gaming mode or not?

No.

I'm saying the input lag for all modes and all refresh rates is extremely low.

The only thing enhanced gaming does is change the resolution to 1080p and refresh rate to 240.

But in all modes there's extremely low latency. 4K60 still has a very low lag with this projector, like less than 25ms
