Bought a BenQ th683 in November - yesterday it was super dim

We bought a BenQ th683 projector from Amazon in November and yesterday the image was half the normal brightness. It's pretty much unwatchable. I've tried everything, including unplugging the projector and resetting it to factory defaults. I've also rebooted our Fire TV Stick, though I don't think that could be the problem. (Could it?)

My wife has mobility issues so the projector is on most of the day, and well into the evening. But at 1300 hours we shouldn't be having issues with the bulb, should we? (We watch exclusively in economy -- low brightness -- mode.)

Coincidentally, I bought the th683 while waiting for the TK850 to become available in Europe. And as luck would have it, our new projector will be arriving in about 30 minutes. We were going to use the th683 has a backup... but that is no longer possible.

Any thoughts? (I've contacted BenQ already and I'm waiting to hear back from them.)
