Uhd30 question

I had a optoma hd20 before on third lamp with over 2000 hours now upgraded to uhd30.
The problem is the new projector is darker than the old one I don't know what I could be doing wrong I'm in a totally light controlled environment.

What is the source device and is it an HDR signal?

HDR can sometimes appear too dark, but this can be adjusted via the HDR Dynamic range options menu.

I've tested with a xboxone x and a roku ultra both look dark. I do have dynamic menu set to bright. Seems like I'm missing something if you try to look a the simple calibration on the xboxone you can't see the dark eye no matter what I set brightness to

Also setting Gamma = 2.0, 1.8 or video should brighten things further.

What does the UHD30X menu->info state for incoming signal (bit depth, HDR, 4:4:4, frame rate)?

OK.

How does it look if you turn HDR off in the source devices?

Can you ensure that the source devices are outputting YCBCR?

projector HDMI color space should be set to auto
(options are auto YUV RGB 16-235, RGB full range)

In general for non-HDR sources, these settings should be a good balance between brightness and colour:

Display mode = Cinema or Game, gamma = 2.0/1.8/video or graphics. Graphics seems to work well for broadcast TV.

Color temp - D65 (higher = brighter)

Brilliant colour = 10

Dynamic Black = on (important).

color gamut = HDTV

On my UHD50 I was able to access the service menu and turn on ISF day mode:

OK, does menu->info report YUV (YCBCR)?

How do the above settings look?

does menu-> info report YCBCR (or YUV)?

I would suggest resetting contrast and brightness to zero.

Also make sure that the source device firmware is up todate.

My UHD50 will only report RGB if my PC is outputting RGB so it's likely you are getting YCBCR. Still, you'll have to check the colour space output options of your source devices because this can make a considerable difference.

when I get HDR from my UB420 BD player, I normally use HDR dynamic range = film and gamma 2.4 because I can tune the HDR via the UB420 HDR optimizer. For HDR output from my Sony X-700 BD player I will use HDR dynamic range = bright or standard and gamma 2.0.

For non-HDR TV broadcasts I like to use gamma = graphics.

Turn brilliant color off. Brilliant color washes out the picture. Or keep it at 3 or less. Either that or hdr may not be syncing properly, one of the big clues to an hdr signal that doesn't sync is a washed out picture.
