Acer H5380BD Display Issues

Recently purchased an Acer H5380BD that has some display issues. When their is no image or during dark scenes, bright spots - one of which is brighter and more visible- can be seen around the center and just below center right of the image. The top left corner is noticeably dimmer with a yellow highlight, its most apparent during bright scenes. The lamp housing and fan had some dust build up. Lamp hours is 2700, placement is tabletop.

Perhaps a new lamp and cleaning/adjusting the light tunnel may correct the picture?

Yes dust in the optics generally cause light spots in dark images. At 2700 hrs a new lamp is a good idea. !!CAUTION!! never use any kind of compressed air on an assembled projector as this almost always forces more dust into the optics.

It might be faulty and not something you can fix. A Benq HT1070A refurb is very cheap, or other DLP 1080p RGBRGB projectors. A new lamp is not worth it IMO, and at 2700h it's getting close to when it should be replaced.

Unless you spent $12 on this unit I would look elsewhere.

For cleaning the light path has to be opened, an example here at around 11 minute mark:

Thanks for the feedback. I will sidestep what could be a rabbit hole of repair on this unit and look for a refurbished BenQ instead. The HT1070A refurb always seems to be OOS with no notification system for when it is available. Any suggestion for when is best to find one in stock, constant F5? Otherwise a good condition HT1075 or HT2050 may be the choice.
