One of those threads was only for 720p(I didn't want to exclude anyone) and the other was asking that we should have a pic thread. So now we do!

I did pm the mods to change the title of the thread I was supporting but why bother them when I can just move my screens here. And battle the other display forums.

Its a fun little war, that's all.

I hope everyone will bring their best pics

Here are some pictures of the HD70 in action with the black and white levels calibrated using Avia and it is actually brighter in real-life than on the photos. I should also add that I am using a bit of vertical-keystone but I honestly cannot notice a different on normal SD or HD material, only on windows desktop.

Great Thread.
Without going into any argument of screenshots vs real quality lets have some fun...I always blv that screenshots are good to judge to an extent only...

Could someone post pictures of the opening scenes in "The Fountain"? There are many dark scenes in there that would test the projector's shadow detailing.

bruce banner 12-31-2007 10:20 AM

How important is the projector screen for detail?

All these screenshots long damn good! but all use different screens... It doesn't seem that important. I was told you should match the screen to your projector weaknesses. Is that what you guys did?

The screen brand/type is what I keep looking for.

Bruce Wayne 12-31-2007 12:15 PM

I use a high contrast gray screen material from Elite. Cost about $100.00 and looks good with my IN72. I am about to build a 2:35 DIY screen and exp. with some paint solutions.

These are fun threads, but 90% of the differences you're seeing are attributed to photography skill, camera quality, and general computer savviness (image editing, compression, formatting, ect...). You should not be trying to make any sort of decision in screen, resolution, or display technology based on off-screen shots.

I'm sure we all know this. This is why we ask the screenshot poster about their setup.. Like I'm doing now.

What is the best way to take these pictures? I guess you don't use a flash. But is there is specific angle facing the screen that is better than others? Do you use a long exposure?

gnolivos 01-01-2008 09:19 AM

turn flash OFF, and most importantly put camera on a tripod (or similar). It needs to be TOTALLY still.
