Questions for the experts please:

When I move left from the hot seat and the central image of say, singer, from a pair of stereo speakers moves left, is it because of:
1. Loudness effect (left speaker is closer and louder)
2. Precedence effect (sounds from left arrives first)

I've always thought it is primarily number 1, no?

JTR Subwoofer Thread I don't always listen to subwoofers, but when I do, it's JTR :-).

I thought all of you guys are center seaters, more like single seaters!

Both, spl and delay have effects on image.

Google time intensity trading.

BTW this is an oooold thread!

Hello,

Maybe someone can help me building my setup; the problem is that with new 65’4KTV I don’t have space in the centre for the central speaker (impossible; Ihave try central on floor and 7.1z central speaker lift up with no luck at all).

Right now I was using 5.1 Cambridge Audio Minx21 (I have 7 units in total (2 free)); so I have 2 options:

4.1 (I don’t want to lose dialogues)(one more speaker not used).
5.1 with two central speakers serial connected.

Another option is change front MINX speakers with CA AERO 3 (two chanels in one box) and use internal 2 ones for central and externals for L-R.

It would be great to know your opinion since I’mnot very good with that.

Thanks and Regards.

I know this is an old thread but it could always be a question again. So I wanted to know how two speakers for center channel would sound because I had 2 b&w lcr 600 s3's around and it sounded much better with two than one. There was an increase in spl and bass output and voices sound better also it sounded good from all seating positions , center seat about 8' away two further seats maybe about 10 ' -12' away. A lot of people said how it would not work on this thread but they had never tried it. Try it for yourself and see if you like it. As always let your ears be the final judge.

I kind of agree with you here.

My father has a large screen TV and had to place a single center speaker to the side.

He then decided to purchase a second speaker and use a two speaker side by side configuration.

I told him it wouldn't be right because of many of the reasons people stated in this thread.

We did a careful comparison of using just 1 speaker and 2, and it turned out that the two speakers was way better and sounded like it was coming from the center than off to only 1 side.

I agree that many people here may have never actually tried it and it may be worth trying depending on your setup.
