I was using Digital video essentials to calibrate video of my new projector.
I was displaying the brightness adjustment pattern which has the three vertical black bars on each side. I think the outer most vertical black bar is called "blacker than black"?. Anyway, I cannot see this outer most vertical black bar, if I route the signal through my Datasat ls10 but I can see it if I connect the projector directly to Onkyo. The instructions say that if I cant see that bar, despite all adjustments, the signal is getting clipped. The only point in the chain for this to happen is the LS10. Is there a setting in LS10 that I should change?
I was using only 1080p Bd.

I never had any issue calibrating PJs through the Datasat on 1080P.

Then what am I missing?
Projector settings were right at the middle - at 50%, as factory reset.
1. I plugged the hdmi cable into the OPPO. I could see the blacker than black bar.
2. I put the LS10 in the loop - oppo to ls10's hdmi 1 and hdmi out of ls10 to projector hdmi. I could not see the same black bar.
3. I repeated step 1. I could see the bar.
4. I repeated step 2 - I could not see the bar.
I tried to adjust the brightness to try and see the bar but to no avail.

What am I missing? Is there a setting in LS10 that I should know about?

Hello, I‘ve heard that the LS10 is capable of 5.1.6 Atmos. Is that correct? And if so, is it also possible to run Auro-3D as 11.1 incl. HC and TC in paralell?
The newest manual which I could find is from 2016, which doesn‘t reflect the above.

I could get a used LS10 fully equipped inlc. Dirac, for less than 10k€. It might be worth it, doesn‘t it?

In theory yes. You can create different setups for Auro and Atmos. Nevertheless you will then have different speaker outputs for the different systems. Say you will have the two rear speakers for Auro on the same output as the rear heights for Atmos.
I am still hoping though that there will be an 7.x.6 upgrade fir the RS20i/LS10!

I am hoping someone can answer this. I have the LS-10 with Atmos and Dirac. I can't find any documentation on the the stereo surround setting. For me, besides playing all channel stereo, it really boosts the bass. Can someone tell me exactly what this setting is doing with respect to post processing and ideally why Datasat included it? On a lot of the music I listen to I like the effect. On some types it really screws it up such as acoustic solo artists.

Datasat LS10 owners, take heart, it's only a matter of time. Why? The way ATI "upgrades" Casablanca is it essentially guts internal components; really not an upgrade, but more like a new machine, sometimes even with new chassis. The only questions for LS10 Mark II with 16 channels are when (you have to be patient welcome to ATI :-)), and how much.

I haven’t lost any love for my LS10. It is an awesome sounding unit and meets my needs perfectly. I will never go beyond 7.2.4 so I should be set.

I will be listing my LS10 ( without Atmos card) , for sale . I have the Dirac license and software that I bought with it that I can give with the unit . I will prefer local pick up and transaction and will give a good deal . Let me know if any one locally is interested

I have a quick question.. The LS10 IR remote. Are its codes the same as any other device ? To control it with a universal remote, they don't have Datasat, hehehehe..

While I can control it via VNC and Crestron via IP and even a learned Harmony, I would really like to have it as volume on a DirecTV remote..

I use a Logitech Harmony remote, and they added it for me when I contacted them.

I just sent them the link on this page (see below) and they did it from there.

I just noticed that there is an update to the LS10 (V1.02.03) that was released this week.

Yep.. I got it for the Harmony. Works perfect..

BUT.. For a basic universal remote, you can't update.. So the question is does Datasat use IR codes that happen to be from another mfgr ? If so, I might be able to add it to the DirecTV remote directly.

I'm not sure if they use the same codes or not, but the first link I posted does list all of their IR codes. Admittedly, I wouldn't know what to do with them.

It’s been really quiet in here, so I heard the rumor again that Ati will offer an upgrade to us Ls10 owners to match the ATP16 and go to 16 channels! I really hope this is true

I don't currently need more channels, however I am hoping for the new DIRAC and really hoping it doesn't require a licensed installer to use it (even though they do provide great results). The closest installer to me is like 8 hours away, so it makes it very difficult to have them come over if I want to tweak something.

ATI/Datasat really needs to provide the measurement tools to end users - and not at $3000!! A $75 mic with a calibration file and a software license for $500 (or less) should be all that is necessary. I can't think of any other processor company who is so restrictive. Even Trinnov, will sell the end user the mic and they can then figure out how to either do the measurements themselves or hire someone to do it and then modify as necessary.

If tATI continues to be so ridiculously restrictive, I don't see them surviving long term.

I think we will see an announcement regarding a consumer based calibration software option as soon as the ATP16 is released.

Is it true there is NO Graphic user interface with the LS10? I am building a home theater and my AV rack will be in another room. Without a video overlay, how do you know what input your are on, volume level set to etc ?

That is a pain - ie have to use a dedicated pc or device to know the current volume and input device. I wonder if a control system like Crestrons new remote controls can be programmed to display some basic information like this right on the remote.

Yes, any control system capable of displaying feedback from devices will be able to show that information.
