The public release of what you guys running RC versions have should be very soon.
I was told that the new FW is ready for release, but they're waiting until after the summer break (French manufacturers typically shut down for about 6 weeks over summer) - they'll probably launch it at Cedia, if we're lucky, with DTS:X Pro ready to go also, and we'll hopefully all get it in the days/weeks following that.

Dts:X Pro will not be in this next release (webinar Thursday). It will be the following (Q4).

As far as I've been told there's quite a few things in it, but the main headline things are:

- Target curve + graphing down to 10Hz
- Separate resolution/smoothing options for IIR and FIR filters
- Saving and loading of target curves (per output channel or linked output channels)
- 12v Triggers programmable by source (Alt 16 only, sadly)

I had a demo of the altitude 16 and Lyngdorf MP50 yesterday and the Trinnov blew the Lyngdorf away. I am now the proud owner of an altitude 16!
How do I control it via an iPad? Download VPN app? Do I also have to download the trinnov app on my Mac desktop?
Thanks

On my Mac I use "Chicken of the VNC". On my iPad, I use "Mocha VNC". I have not been inclined to try to use the Trinnov app. And congratulations. You now own the best processor brand on the planet!!

Yes, download the app onto your iPad. I've used both Real VNC and Mocha VNC with no problems.

Only if you plan to control the Altitude using the desktop.

Congrats on the purchase!

Congratulations! You made a great choice. And I also use the free version of RealVNC on an ipad. Works great. There are also free wake-on-lan apps you can download if you want to turn it on remotely. It does respond to WOL. I don't use that often but it's handy on occasion if nothing else to do some tweaking to your configuration on a PC that's not in the same room.

Cogratulations on your decision, care to elaborate on your findings and also where those demos took place?

Edit: Forget that, I think I've found your excellent and very detailed report.

Altitude 16 IR Turn-on/Turn-off codes

In a different AVS thread, Lexicon64 posted details about the Altitude 16 I was not aware of. He wrote:

Actually discovered there is a discrete power off. You hold the info button for 5 seconds. (We should really have guessed that one shouldn’t we?!) I have managed to load both commands in to the Harmony using the Trinnov remote and get it all to work.

For Altitude 16 IR power on, simply press the OK button.

Then this is the official non-RC version? I've been running the last RC version, rc9, that had several quirks that I trust are resolved.

I'll be attending Thurs webinar so will wait until afterwards.

@appelz

Which of the following two setups do you think is better?

1. 9.1.6 setup with an Altitude16 (leaves one free output on the Altitude16 for the subwoofer) + DSP for multiple subwoofers such as the QSC Core 110f. Speakers managed by the Altitude16 and subwoofers managed by the QSC Core 110f.

2. 9.1.6 setup with an Altitude32 16-24. All speakers and subwoofers managed by the Altitude32.

Basically, what I am trying to get at is, is it better to have a DSP to manage/correct the subwoofers over just relying on the Altitude? Do you gain any added "functionality" or "control" (in terms of fine tuning or adjustments) when adding a nice DSP for the subwoofers?

Lastly, what is your preferred DSP? In a previous post in this thread (maybe a year ago), you stated that the QSC Core 110f was your go-to DSP. Is that still true?

Hi, awesome forum. I've spent many hours reading through it.
Got me so impressed, I'm as of today a proud new owner of an Altitude 32 16-24. Very excited about this!

It's to be connected to a 7.2.14 speaker setup.

One thing that's not clear to me despite all my reading, is how do the different speakers get mapped in the various formats.

For example, do my right-front-height, left-front-heigh, right-top-middle, left-top-middle (etc) - get mapped only into Atmos and Dolby, and are left as None for Auro3d, Dts:x and DTS? Seems a waste to have all these speakers and amps, and that at any point in time only a small subset is being used based on the specific surround format used.

Or is that going to be the case, until DTS:X Pro is available, at which time I'll use this format to drive all speakers?

Asking after looking on the layout screen through vnc, after all my speakers are positioned.

I'm sure it's a complete newbie question and my trusted and amazing installer will have the answers, but trying to figure it myself as well.

Unlocked, updated & done. And 1 RC issue I had seen seems to be resolved, hurray! Support from Trinnov is great. Wish I could be going to CEDIA, if nothing else to meet Jon & hear the DTS-X Pro demo. But alas, not going.

DTS:X Pro got nothing to do with firmware; it can come at any time.

Edit:
I'm fairly sure the firmware will come first, but they are not connected. DTS:X Pro is a codec update (which can be pushed independent of the firmware).

Like a thief in the night?

Thanks, for the clarification. I stand corrected.

I do believe that the HDMI hardware has firmware, but doesn't the Altitude itself utilize software for both the management interface and codecs?

HDMI board got its own firmware actually (I have upgraded this several times).
But codecs does not have anything to do with HDMI board. DTS:X Pro only affects rendering of the DTS:X; so it uses all channels for objects and some clever upmix support for beds in addition to remove the 11+sub restriction. What comes from the source is DTS:X; you will never find a blu-ray with DTS:X Pro.

Here's the problem... even if DTS: X Pro is a better, improved codec and a little bit more like Atmos, there are only 20 titles, from one foreign based studio (which has now switched to Atmos), that actually have 5 positionable objects included that we know of. ID4's 4k disc track only has one additional non static object and then that's all she wrote.

The rest of the home DTS: X titles have to use upmixing to have sound come out of any speaker beyond the 7.1.4 fixed track limitation.

Might as well have called this Neural: X Pro.
appelz likes this.

Listen up, studios! Dolby Atmos Lite™ print-outs must stop!!

Sorry to ask about a basic question. I downloaded mocha VNC lite to try and control the trinnov from my iPad. I entered the MAC address for the trinnov and also tried putting in the IP address. When I clicked connect it kept saying password incorrect. Where do I find the password for the trinnov?
Is there a guide somewhere as to how to set this up?
Thanks.
