Not unlike an unnamed technology company (named after a fruit) intentionally running batteries down so you would need to upgrade your device. They, however, gave a full credit for a replacement battery (when caught). What is K going to do to rectify this really poor decision? If all of this is true, not a great way to treat customers of a "premier product".

I will peak closer to 300 at times, so I think they are still throttling throughout as opposed to an actual limit. They are stating now 250 is the limit in the Strato, (on the phone earlier it was 300) and the Terra would be around north 500 in optimal LAN and WAN conditions.

From a write perspective this still seems like an arbitrary limit they decided upon, but 250 average is more than fine - this is much more like what I was expecting. The geo limitation claim made to me at the start was not a factor to the issue I was experiencing.

Part of the giveaway as to higher potential Strati performance is the internal bandwidth limit set. This increments up tp 300, and then to Unlimited beyond that. There wouldn’t be a point to off a 300 limit set and an even higher unlimited option if the box could only support 250. Wonder if the Tera servers show the same or higher option.

Of course, 500 Mbps sounds even nicer... do I dare Terra...? Oh vey...

Thanks for posting this. Looks like I need to reach out to them as well.

Since 2 am through this morning (had downloads running overnight) I am throttled back to 190’s consistently... speedtests to their locale remains in the 450-550 range.... so not sure what they are doing again.

I’ve emailed my contact back to check if something got “tweaked” again overnight.

I don’t like fugazy...

A feature I requested is an adjustable delayed play setting (in seconds)

Most projector/Radiance owners are aware a move starts to play with audio but a black screen while the hdmi handshake takes it sweet old time for resolution, frame rate, and colorspace changes among other gyrations

So a playback delay feature would allow the KScape to send all the video parameters but pause playback for xx seconds while all the handshaking occurs. After the preset time, playback occurs so you see video and audio from the start

Even a cheap Zidoo recently added this feature.

If you like the idea contact them and let them know... it should be relatively trivial to add

I have cox gigabit internet . I have premiere , strato and Terra server . On premiere download speed is on avg. 110 Mbps. Before getting terra , I would get 200 Mbps on Strato . On Terra my average download time for a 4K HDR movie is 15-20 min max at 500-600 MBps . I have achieved upto 620 Mbps for a movie .
So definitely there is something in Terra server that allows for higher download speeds .

After years of the same four or five guys being almost all the posters here suddenly things are picking up. Personally without having the Lumagen to do tone mapping I've not been able to get a great picture consistently from the Strato in HDR. The non-HDR stuff is nice and I have several of these but the HDR was good with some and unwatchable for others. Watch BR 2049 then put up 1953 War of the Worlds with the Lumagen.

Day and date simultaneous movie releases at the Cinema and on Kscape would be about the only thing that would make me jump in. Otherwise just don’t see the major advantages in the format from a cost benefit approach.

I’ve been on the fence and off the fence a couple times now. Day and Date Release would get me today.
They could for sure broaden their audience if they had a cost effective unit for 2K ish as well. The first thing
that is brought up is the price of admission when I speak to most. Just a thought. Meanwhile we exclusively use
ATV 4Ks everywhere in our home. Of course the Theater could use a KScape. I will wait in the announcements.

That link you're hanging your hopes on is 1.5 years old.

I see no chance. DIdn't Prima Cinema try this for a $30K box and $500 for a new release for 48 hours?

It'd be great, but hard to imagine Hollywood would potentially harm the theaters...

Goodbye to a great audio and video genius and writer... JOHN GANNON. I enjoyed your friendship, wit and a nice long run we took around Indianapolis at CEDIA years back... and for buying my Runco 980 Ultra years back... you saved my ass! Rest in peace.

Cheena was still talking about it at last years CEDIA.

But I agree that there seem to be lots of challenges.

Yep, Agree Jeff - can't see them letting Kal do this unless the premium is 'significant', and in the order of the price you mention there, which I can't see many people being willing to pay.

What's more likely than Day and Date release, is Kal offering lower priced limited duration movie rental downloads - I believe they mentioned this last year?

They mention as I remember as a PVOD and they sign with Next Gard for protection (water marking) so they try to provide it but it depends on studio of course and it’s hope and let’s see

Its not that important to see a movie at home when released in the theaters, especially for a premium price and rental only.

Really, it’s good to get out once and awhile!

I haven’t purchased a regular shiny disc in now over a year. We’ve mainly purchased movies from Vudu in HDR10 with Atmos. Lately iTunes depending on price now that they’ve fixed the drop out issue. The Mule, Green Book, Bohemian Rhapsody as well as many others have looked terrific. I did my entire Review of the 995 (Sony projector) exclusively using screenshots from the ATV 4K. I will admit Art’s comments about HDR with some titles does cause reason to pause but with his gigantic screen could maybe that be the factor? No way I want to add a Lumagen and a KScape at the same time. I am also in the process of having my “Dream” aquarium b(since I was a kid) built so priorities....

So the compromised audio from all streamed services, given the ultra high quality of all of your audio gear, is a non-issue for you?

The MX160 does a bang up job with it. Sure if maybe we had less than stellar components it might be harder to mask. And trust me I am very interested in a KScape I just want to make sure it is the right move. At least in the theater. We have over a thousand movies now available to stream. Many on MA...
