Just got over 900 mb/s download speed via Speedtest, with over 600 mb/s downloads from KScape! Cox Gigablast!

Do you have to physically download all of your Ultraviolet Movies to the Kaleidescape player before the 31st or is registering your UV account with K enough. Just thinking ahead, ordered a Strato; should have it sometime this week.

KScape is claiming they will get a snapshot of your UV library as of the 31st but personally, I downloaded everything just in case but I'm sure it's fine.

Additioally, Strato S is the new “slim” version and is only 1.6” tall compared to the Strato which is standard 2U height.

No, you don't have to physically download them. They just have to be in your UV account and make sure they've synced to K and they appear in your "My Movies".

The fact that you have so many WITHOUT bookmarks indicates to me that you have a great collection.... of unusual movies that very few other people have in their K-scape collection!

I would go over to the K owners forum. They have an entire section on scripting. I think on the second page is also some threads on how to do it. The K website also has documentation (in the support area)...

Scripts are cool and easy once you do one. Peter (CINERAMAX) is the scripting god and has posted his in the K Forum. I was at CEDIA last year and was impressed with some of scripting choices they all had made to demonstrate their setups as most were running Stratos. I made one from the Harmon demo which I sometimes run when testing things or demoing my setup for friends. SJ

Sorry, what are scripts for? Stitching together scenes from different movies?

From a GUI perspective, I wish K would:

- provide an option to make alphabetized sort order stick
- provide a vertical scroll option that wraps cover rows within your field of view. Right now, a row "ends" on the left or right, but the next row below is not the next title alphabetically. There are a dozen or more titles extending beyond the visible layout that require horizontal scrolling. They should offer a simple, fixed vertical scroll option with no horizontal scrolling. The "infinite" two axis scrolling is a gimmck after the first few days of use, and is poor user interface design.

UPDATED 4/29/17 Thrang's Home Theater (for now...)
Sony VPL-VW5000es • Panamorph Paladin DCR • Trinnov Altitude 16 • Crown DCIn amplifiers • JBL M2 (LCR-LW-RW) • JBL S2S-EX subwoofers x2 • JBL SCL-4 (side/rear surrounds) • JBL SCS12 (x4) SCS8 (x2) TH/RH/TM • Lumagen Radiance Pro • Panasonic UB820 • Apple TV 4k • Synology RAID (45 TB total storage) • RTI control system

Definitely worth the effort! I have collections for my favorites for each of those (not hard to do with the relatively few DTS:X titles out there), and then from within those collections I've built scripts of my favorite scenes. SOOOOOO much fun to use this function to show off the system. FWIW, Pacific Rim's always a crowd favorite.

The collection and scripting functions can not be emphasized enough. When people think we spend to much on our gear (and perhaps we do), it's THESE very functions that streaming or even using discs can never, ever match.

I can just imagine someone trying to show off their system to me via streaming: "Hang on. Let me log in to Netflix real quick. [scroll, scroll, scroll] Oh there it is. Hang on. Gotta FF to the scene I was thinking of [10 minutes later] Oh yeah, this is it. Just gotta wait for it to buffer. Crud it's only stereo and SD til it catches up. Oh, cool. Isn't that awesome?! Now let's check out this scene from this other show. Hang on. Gotta exit this app and log into Amazon. [scroll, scroll, scroll...FF forever...loading...lather, rinse, repeat]. So whaddya, think? Me: Yawn... Discs might take even longer when you gotta suffer through all the non-skippable FBI warnings, trailers, title screens/menus and such. Yes. The Kaleidescape interface and functionality simply CANNOT be matched by anything else, even with audio/video qualities aside.

Shuttling tape was ridiculous (impractical actually) so when Laserdiscs came along it was like heaven by comparison. But since then "favorite scenes" have gotten more difficult with each new format whether DVD or HD-DVD or BD or BDUHD. Heck I dunno why I keep my handle! For sure, it seems like the folks who design the disc operations never play with them!
