The 1.25X ISCO is huge , it actually dwarfs the ISCO IIIL 1.33X which by anamorphic lens standards is already big and heavy. You'll want a separate dedicated mount for the lens without question. The 1.25X would be necessary if you want to utilize the full 17:9 panel like the DCR but it's also intended to be used on a curved screen whereas the DCR is intended for a flat screen. The DCR is by comparison very small, extremely light, in fact, I hung mine off the mounting plate of my current projector without issue . I did not have a electric sled as the lens remains fixed in place, that saves a lot of weight too. Luckily the Sony have stretch and shrink modes, it's not necessary to move the anamorphic lens at all .

Dedicated Theater: Sony VPL VW5000 , Panamorph DCR & ISCO III L Anamorphic Lens, Draper TecVision XT1800X Screen, 2.40:1 134" diagonal curved , Denon AVR-X8500 , 9.2.6 Atmos, Panasonic UB900, Oppo 203, Lumagen Pro 4440 , (3) Paradigm CI Elite E7-L+C+R fronts, , (2) CI Pro P80-IW Rear, (2) Paradigm SA-ADP In-wall Surround, (6) SIG-1.5R-30 v.3 In-Ceiling, Subwoofers: (2) SVS SB-16 Ultra , (1) SVS PC13-Ultra .

I think ideally all A lenses will work best with curved screens as distance from lens to center of screen is different than the edge of screen . However with long enough through ( mine is 25’) , it becomes a non issue visually . On test pattern I don’t see much geometric distortion or lack of sharpness from center to the edge . Some is expected obviously but it is minimal and while watching actual content , you can’t perceive it .

You are correct, the longer the throw the less the anamorphic lens distortion effect . Now, not ALL anamorphic lens require a curved screen, the Paladin DCR is actually designed for a flat screen . So to be clear, most A-lens like the ISCO and all previous Panamorph before the paladin have vertical compression the image has a pincushion shape whereas the Paladin DCR has horizontal compression, the image will have barrel distortion. The closer to the screen the greater the distortion, both will essentially need
a little over scan .

Today I was trying to watch a DVD (MKV) with Oppo 203 but signal wasn't detected and after a while projector went off and red light was flashing four time. In the user's manual there's no mention about four red flashes. Does anybody know what's happened?
After a power cycle projector went on.

P.S. Radiance is set to output 4:2:2 and Auto 18GHz
With Dune Pro 4K DVD MKV Playback is ok.

Could it be that it flashed 8 times? I have read that code means the lens is not securely attached.

Other than that, curious to know what 4 flashes means.

No. 4 flashes, long pause, 4 flashes, long pause, 4 flashes and so on...

I was having HDMI sync issues and got worse that I stopped getting any Hidef picture including Lumagen onscreen menu even . Tried rebooting whole chain several times , changed cables , even brought Lumagen right next to projector with 6” brand new cable . It works fine when attached to my Sony 4K TVs with same cables . I get the Sony menu fine which is sharp and crisp . Called Sony ES customer service . It was still under warranty (2.5 yes out) . I have to say customer service was great . No wait time on the call and immediately offered that they will be shipping a crate to send the projector to service center .
On that topic , can any one tell me how to save current configuration and when I get the projector back how to reload it . Please feel free to PM me if you are not able to post here

Thanks

Is the firm aware update process in this projector simple, bulletproof? Haven’t done it.

There was an issue a few firmware's ago that bricked a small number of projectors! Before and after that, there have been no reported incidents.

In terms of procedure, Sony includes the instructions on the firmware download page, but since this is not released yet, unsure of the process has changed or not. Top level - you extract the firmware, put it on a USB stick, insert in a powered down 5000, turn the projector on, and wait several minutes as it updates, paying attention to the led status lights for progress and completion.

The 760 update was available as of earlier today and the features list for the 760 has also been updated.

Of more interest to you guys, is that the feature list for the 5000 has also been updated to show the new features, but no firmware update as yet of course.

Lumagen 444x question

Any Lumagen / 5000ES users have a second monitor connected to the Lumagen 2nd HDMI output (for equipment room, etc?) Any sync issues? What brand monitor?

Thanks

I think is a pretty normal setup for folks with screens that drop in front of a smaller displays. Are you going to run both displays at the same time? I have a second monitor, but it is only 1080P in an adjacent room to our theater (using Sony 995). I use Mem D to change all the outputs to 1080P. We never use at the same time, but does work with my 995 receiving a 1080P signal. Not sure about 4K, but a quick note to the folks at Lumagen would give you info as they deal with this in many installations. SJ

With Dune Pro 4K DVD MKV Playback is ok.
Anybody ever had an issue where the 5000 doesn't display an image, only the yellow HDMI notification?

I bypassed the Lumagen and tried a couple sources directly into the 5000 and nothing. I then removed power, gave it a few minutes and the sources displayed. Came back a bit later and same thing, only this time power cycling is not helping. Then it was on for about 5 minutes before it turned off, giving the 4 blinking red lights.

Getting anxious that I may have a problem here. I'll mess around with a bit more before contacting support but wanted to check here first.

On both HDMI inputs, no. One one, yes. Sent it in to get repaired and they replaced the HDMI board. But it came back way out of color.

According to 870 SM 4 flashes has a couple of meanings but as you restarted your VP, I would guess it is the one that means:

System error:
4 Flashes.
The communication between CPUs cannot be
performed after the power is turned on, or each
CPU cannot operate correctly.

Glad it sorted itself.

Hard power cycle will mostly cure a number of ills.

Lights blinking 4 times can mean one of three things:

System error

Firmware update error

Wheel error.
