Indeed. That one.

It looks incredible by the way. It also looks far larger than the floor plan suggests.

The angled cut outs for the front wides are really nice!

After many months I read again here at AVS as I had interest in the Christie Projector and I like to see if I can find any news that I don’t know.

What I had post in the other forum was not incorrect it was correct!

At this time I am very likely the only person in the world that got a officially offer from Christie Germany in written form.

When I post after seeing this offer this projector was way more expensive than a Barco Thor I was right not wrong!

I had hear lately form some delay in the product and on top some technical changes that will result may in a cheaper price.
Today it was all speculation what this new price with the technical changes will be but this projector even with this changes will be never cheap.

I have hear some number but I will not talk about it as it is senseless at this time and stage.

Also wrong is your statement about the best 3D.

The best 3D is by far Laser 6P that the Barco Thor have.
So far I know the new upcoming Christie can do shutter and polarizer.
Both show compare to Laser 6P 3D by far a less good picture in 3D and possible the infinity cr. will be never visible as the polarizer and the shutter are the bottleneck when watching 3D. Only in 2D cr. will be infinty cr at the eye.
Shutter and polarizer cannot show more than 6000:1 or max. 8000:1 cr. and this is not
a first April joke!

For more details about it read my posts in the other forum where I post plenty of technical information why this is so.

Hi Wolfgang, I don't tend to follow that other forum any more so missed your post there.

As I have previously stated, product development is not completed yet and the pricing has not be finalized; so we need to be careful making criticisms regarding either price or performance when such things might be different with respect to the final product.

As mentioned there are some hardware aspects that should be seeing the final pricing being considerably less than the pricing which might have been indicated to you at an earlier stage of development.

The fact of the matter is that any and all implication or inference that this Christie projector will be costing as much as 'half a million pounds' or 'much, much, more than even a Barco Thor' is factually incorrect. And in fact, if we are making true apples-with-apples comparison this projector even the early indicative pricing for this Christie projector was not in fact 'much, much, more than even a Barco Thor'. But either way, the good news is that the final product is going to be significantly lower cost than this

Regarding the 3D performance, I can't comment regarding the assumptions you have made regarding contrast performance with 3D being limited to only 8,000:1 so I will need to discuss the matter further with Christie; however, the Barco Thor does not achieve higher contrast than 8,000:1 anyway, and certainly not higher than 5,000:1 without sacrificing a lot of light output hence resulting in comparatively lower image brightness with 3D, so why would it be better?

That said, I do absolutely agree with you that contrast discussion aside the 3D performance of the Barco Thor is indeed incredible, so I have now edited my previous post accordingly

The two projectors are two different price points; so there is most certainly a market for BOTH projectors.

In fact, I have a detailed review of the 'other' projector to which to refer which is 99% finished and I will be publishing shortly. However, I will reiterate that there are two aspects that will be a problem for some people, but in spite of these, this other projector produces one of the best projected video images that I have ever seen. The HDR and 3D performance in particular is absolutely incredible, and second only to this Christie projector. I just need to find the time to take the necessary range of contrast measurements for the comparative SONY and JVC projectors and then the review will be finished and I will post it on here (but obviously in a different thread)

I'm actually waiting for a giant sized non-AT display that's neither ridiculously priced nor has numerous downsides / issues

I've checked out both the Sony 98" XBR-98Z9G and Samsung 98” Q900 QLED as possible alternatives to the modular video walls (which quite frankly are not ready for market yet) however, these won't be available in the UK until end of 2019 / early 2020... AND the prices are ludicrous! In short, due to being native 8K they are charging silly prices... and you'd need to sit ridiculously close to the screen for most people to be able to perceive the benefit of the increased resolution. Shame because if these were 4K and half the price then I might have considered them, but not as is

Nigel- did you ever finish the review for the other projector mentioned- the 7k lumens projector? I haven’t seen anything on it. Thanks

Very interesting Wolfgang, regarding the shutter and polarizer being the bottleneck. I say go active then! Ill go check out your technical info on the other forum before I make anymore assumptions.

GOT last night was probably the darkest visual I’ve ever seen- movie or tv show. I was dreaming of having the Christie contrast so I could figure out what the heck was going on! 🤨It was definitely suited for OLED.

I watched it on my 65OLED using TIVO 4K Bolt - the picture was so bad with all kinds of issues - will try on Hulu using AppleTV 4K...watched in a completely dark room and still it was horrible compressed etc.
Until we don't get high quality input of the picture from the source no matter what display we have does not count
