After 3 months of wait finally replaced the Datasat with Trinnov Alt16 and Seaton’s with Alcons . Walter calibrated the audio over last three days and audio is stunning now .
Alcons CRMS MkII for LCRs
Alcons SRIW for lower surrounds
Alcons SRHV for heights
Four Sentinel 3 amps
Trinnov Alt 16
10 custom made subs with TC sound drivers QSC 5000 watt amps for subs
All amps on separate 20 amp dedicated circuit
Kaleidescape and Oppo as sources
Trinnov as Roon endpoint for 2 channel audio

Pics of very professionally packed speakers and amps , LCRs being baffle mounted behind the screen and amplifier rack

Thanks to David from Alcons and to Walter for great time together and the tuning . Great company to deal with ... and spotless communication and responsiveness

Wow. Quite the setup. And welcome to the world of Trinnov. With those speakers, the Trinnov and 10 subs, it must sound spectacular.

Congratulations.

I'll add my own congratulations for your latest setup! 10 subs, an Altitude + rack of amps - I'll bet your happy

Hope we see you in the Trinnov thread. I came from a Marantz processor and before that a Pioneer flagship so having an Altitude 16 is a whole new experience.

I figured you would be catching up on work - and family - after several "grueling" "tuning" days!!!

How about some more details?! I've never heard the Alcons so I'm always interested in what people have to say about them. They are on my fantasy audio league team, lol. Along with the JBL M2s and others.

Mani still has more work to do on his room in regard to adding diffusion and taking out some of the absorption. Nonetheless, gunshots ripped right through me plenty loud, fast and tight; and vocals are crystal clear. I really don't want to comment further at this time, as Mani will be doing more to his room so it can maximize the potential of those Alcon speakers and Alcon amps (all NCore 1200 for all channels). When Mani completes this journey I have no doubt the sonics will be totally to die for!

I am very happy with the switch . In the past I have used B&Ws , Genelecs , and more recently Seaton’s . Alcons probably have the cleanest vocals ... (genelecs not too far behind) . Esp with CRMS MkII with 15” base driver , I actually run them full range for stereo listening and prefer that over adding 10 subs .

Genelecs were 1037B
B&Ws were mix of 800 and 700 series . It was few years ago so don’t remember the exact models . I was running them with Pass labs X series stereo preamp and pass labs monoblocks

Please don’t get me wrong .... it’s not that B&W and likes are bad speakers . I don’t listen to two channel much anymore since I had kids . We watch movies mostly . And the dynamic range you need for movie mixes , you can’t beat active monitors whoch are actually used in the studios to make those mixes to begin with .

I know what you mean, Mani, I hardly have time for 2 channel with 3 kids. We do watch a fair number of movies as a family and I do sneak down for a 2 channel "fix" whenever I can. I agree with your comment about active monitors.

Hi

I am very happy with Trinnov / Alcons combination . My theater is 27x21x12 ft ( sorry was lazy to convert into meters 🙂 )
I use triad gold in walls , and in ceiling silvers in my family room driven by Marantz AV 7703 and ATI amp . That’s the only direct comparison I can comment on in my home . I have heard Triad Platinums at my friends house 4-5 years ago in dedicated and treated theater . I would have to say Alcons / Trinnov combo is a cut above . Although I won’t say that triads are any slouch either . Again above comparison is no where close to A/B at all and very subjective . And it is hard to tease out how much improvement is from Trinnov and room /room treatments etc as well . But mid range and top end is absolutely stellar and I believe that is from their pro ribbon drivers .
If you have the space and budget to fit in CRMS mk II for LCR’s , I will definitely go with them . Extra SPL and low extension does add a punch . I use them full range sometimes for music and get much tighter and cleaner bass than using subwoofers as they have 15” woofer ( although I know they don’t go down to 20 Hz )

Hope that helps
