OK So to make sure we've got this right, the Alcons AVS Cineramax super duper bubbly immersive demo is at the Alcons booth at 5 PM Friday, not 5 PM Thursday?

Just talked to Peter on Twitter and also confirmed the above. He also said that he may have to dip out on Thursday at the end of day to meet a client.

I’d give the edge to Alcons. I just feel the are more dynamic with wider dispersion characteristics.

At higher SPL the Alcons would be my choice.

Now that said the JBL M2 is no slouch. I’d say different sonic signature.

Have not a cost comparison.

Haven’t heard M2 , but having Alcons for few months , I can say that their midrange and high end detail is sublime . I am guessing because of their pro ribbon driver .

Mani, don't worry. We will try not to tell you about the new Alcons speakers at CEDIA and how they sound so you will not be inclined to do another upgrade next year!

Great to see there is a treated room this year (I did not attend last year).

Also impressed you are tweaking today not Thursday morning like many will be doing.

They purposely wanted to get in early this year. Kris finished the video calibration this afternoon (first set of pictures), then Walter started the audio
Late afternoon, he was planning on working fairly late then having most of tomorrow for final tweaks,

So I am opening the door to walk into the convention center to get my CEDIA badge and a guy to my side goals hey Steve open the door for me turns out it was Sean Kelly of panamorph with his wife. He was on his way to the Alcons
Booth to set up a DCR lens. Although I had him as a special guest years ago and recently talked and emailed with him I’ve never met him personally before but he recognized me from my picture when I post on the forum isn’t that hilarious

Thanks for your inputs. As a follow-up, say both JBL M2 and Alcons CRMS MKII / CRMSC cost the same (with their respective amps) and you usually listen between -15dB to -20dB, which one would you choose, if accuracy, transparency and clean distortion free playback was your priority.

If you have 2 to 3 rows with the seating 12 feet, 18 feet and 24 feet respectively from the screen/speaker, would one make a difference vs the other? Any thoughts on when one would go for Alcons vs M2s?

Thanks for your thoughts and impressions.

Hi Steve

I am running CRMS MkII for LCR , CRMS SR for four surrounds and CRMSC SRHV for atmos . I don’t think there is anything drastically new that will tempt me this year 😀
