I wasn't suggesting you should not do that. Only that once everything is dialed in and you are using your 92 speakers (or whatever you have) for Auro Upmixing, it will be less critical than if we were stuck in the "purist" 2 channel days.

Absolutely. I have already experienced how the Trinnov can "correct" speaker placement and sound wonderful, including with Auro 3D. Just following some advise on this forum and from Adam that if one can do the very best speaker placement this gives the very best possible sonic results.

That's me or all pics posted here look so small (with some tilted), so I can't really enjoy them.

An awesome home theater like this should deserve bigger pics...

My theatre upgrade/renovation is coming slowly but surely. The below photos show work done on framing and air conditioning venting.

Theatre dimensions have been 18.25' wide, 25' long' 12' high. New renovated dimensions will be same except length will be 23.33'! Noted acoustician Anthony Grimani recommends length 1.2 to 1.3 X width, which I will have with this renovation. This revised length became appropriate and necessary because my Sony VW5000 laser projector was taken down from its ceiling mount, and will be inset behind the top back wall with its back box in the attic with proper ventilation/cooling, with a Panamorph DCR anamorphic lens added. In the attic there is a structural beam which limited how far back we could go in terms of mounting the projector dead center. And this all worked out well acoustically as well! The photos show area taped off with black tape at the center back where the projector shelf/box will go as the framer completes his work.

When we built the theatre as an addition to my home in 1997, we installed cabinets/shelves/wetbar at the back of the theatre. Those have been removed. We are putting in new cabinetry/doors/shelves for hidden Mid-Atlantic component racks (2 80" high racks, with space for a 3rd just in case) and disc storage! Whereas the previous cabinetry was 20" deep, now it will be 40" deep. Heck, so deep I could put a bed back there!

Also, when we built the theatre in 1997, we installed a long air return under the back cabinetry. Yesterday this was revised, with that air return taken out, keeping the four air registers in my theatre (white grills at ceiling) but replacing them with newer better grills that circulate air better; inserting a new air return above the doors to the theatre from the hallway (which will be quite); and adding new air return ducts above the hallway outside the theatre into the attic where the air handler is (see white grills in hallway outside theatre).

Eventually this should turn out quite nice. 2.5 months so far I've been down and probably 2-3 months to go. But it will be worth it. Once the projector is mounted and running and all the electrical is done I plan to have Kris Deering come out to resetup/recalibrate my Sony VW5000/Panamorph DCR Lens/Lumagen Radiance Pro (Kris is so tuned in to assisting Lumagen in continually improving their DTM - Dynamic Tone Mapping - and by phone/email he gives his customers how to change Radiance Pro settings as Lumagen updates its DTM software). And once all the new room treatments are done and speakers and subwoofers and components are installed then I'll have master calibator Trinnov wizard Adam Pelz come out and do his magic! Here's hoping its done for the New Year. Meanwhile, I get to watch video in my old old basement 5.1 in-wall system with my new LG 65" OLED!

Below are photos after framer's work yesterday. You can see the doorway from the theater into the hallway with the new air quiet air return for the air conditioning above the doorway. Next you can see the grill attached to the air return. Next you can see looking into the hallway the two air returns. The last photo shows the back of the theatre where the new cabinetry will go - at the top middle there's a rectangle, that's where the shelf and box that the projector is going to go!

Sorry, I've tried, but even when I rotate photos to the side they still turn out to a side. Even though the photos are taken correctly and on my computer they look rightside up as in real life!

See post #98 at https://www.avsforum.com/forum/86-ul...l#post58707368 for a discussion of what I am doing with subwoofers, selling my 2 JL Audio f212s and 2 Paradigm Personas and going with Seaton Subwoofers (finally after many months listening to Chuck/Audioguy).

I'm going to find out what a total of 10 F18s and a couple of 12" Triads sound like in a week.

Art,
Where are you placing all these subs physically?
I have a pair of master slave Seaton's behind my screen and between those and my LCR's and mono block amps there is no place to stick anything behind the screen....
Curious ....

Ash,
Two are already in the back of the room placed in the projection room firing through the back wall , the other eight will be stacked four on top of each other near the front corners.

The pic shows the four Submersives there from the previous work.

Art, thanks. For the life of me I don't know why my photos are upright as they should be but then once loaded to AVS they go sideways. So long as my theater project doesn't go sideways, that's what counts! And it was your posts re your new Seaton subs that helped move me along to cleaning up my theater even more realizing Mark has new models that can pretty much fit anywhere! Thanks.

When its all done, my theater will be 18.25' W x 23.08 L x 11.9167' H (only dimension that changed with renovation is L was 25').

Art, where are the couple of 12" Triad subs going - in ceiling, perhaps?

Those were already existing from the original installation of Triad speakers, located in the side and rear columns. In the last calibration I didn't have them contribute a lot, but some above 40Hz, more to smooth some variations.

Edit each photo ( just crop it a tiny bit ) and save the new version, and it won't do that.

Art- you seriously need to stop. I was happy with my 4 F18s and then saw your stack- so thought I might go to 6. Now you’re doing to 10! Guess I’ll have to squeeze in 8 now.

I understand. I actually just asked Mark what he felt would result in a meaningful upgrade to what I had, we first started chatting about it in April. He came back with this thought and plan. Literally, Mark has never done me wrong in all the years I've known him and I defer to his knowledge almost exclusively in matters audio.

You had to wait 6 months for Mark to say double your subs lol. JK I get it if he was swamped up until now. What will you do with all those subs "if" you get a video screen? Im sure Mark could hide quite a few of those around back and front.

Not sure how to take your post; could be anywhere from all in jest to poorly placed, below the belt, sarcastic digs.

It was a light hearted dig at how long it can take to get work done if your not a DIYer or what not, especially dealing with a highly sought after and busy company like Seaton. Guess it came across worse then intended. Tried to add emojis and the "JK" to show. So sorry bout that.

The rest Im truly curious about and I wondered about your future audio plans or if you will simply cross that bridge when you get there?

Ive seen some posts by you Art saying you are thinking going MicroLED possibly in the future. Interesting in seeing the solutions people are doing during this transition. Interested in everyones approach going from AT screen to MicroLED; to try to maximize screen size while maintaining space around the screen for speaker placement.

Edited

Well yes, cross that bridge. I have space adjacent to the theater and a large attic above as well as about two feet on the sides of my present screen to work with, without building an entirely new theater, if needed but going to a wall would be down the road since I'm not very interested in going to a smaller screen. I had hoped that the Eclipse would be available which would require only work in the projection room.

Thanks for chiming in and again apologizes.

It definitely sounds like you have some space to work with if you did go the Micro LED route. And I don't blame you for not wanting to compromise screen size. Hopefully Christie moves forward a bit quicker with the Eclipse. Its been kind of quiet.

Thanks very much, you probably don't really owe me an apology there were several ways to read your post and I read it in the worst way. I believe that walls are the future the issue is how far out can we get something that is 17.5' diagonal that isn't multiples of my home in cost and with well thought out audio solutions which don't just replace one solution with a series of compromises. The Eclipse was the answer but the longer it goes the less appealing it becomes simply because it's ultimate obsolescence horizon becomes ever closer. It will still be a very expensive device but if it can provide state of the art imagery on a large screen it is still something which will be worth it for many.
