Subwoofers in a dual use HT / 2 channel system

Anyone out there run a mixed use system that has a 2 channel preamp and HT processor where the preamp runs in bypass mode for movies? What did you do for subs?

The only product I could find that seems to make sense in this scenario is REL where you could have the speaker level input used just for 2 channel music listening and the line level input driven from the HT processor for movies.

In this setup, in the processor, would you set L/R to Full Range and have LFE routed to L/R, using the CR1 to perform crossover duties?

I used to have a trinnov st2 as the audio preamp and a separate ssp. The st2 had 4 channels so I could use 2 of my subs for 2 channel with the mains. It is a pretty good preamp, has room correction and eq, and allows for subs for 2 channel. My subs have 2 inputs so i had separate ht and stereo inputs going into them

It’s close but won’t quite work right as the preamp runs in bypass mode so the main outputs would still always feed into the xover. The manual says you need to turn off 1 set of inputs to the CR1 and not drive both. Watching a movie would drive both.

If it were a normal sub crossover, then yes, but with the CR1 you have ability to swap between managed bass inputs (CR1 crossover bypassed) and use of the CR1 for 2 channel.

It will work - you can wire the system exactly as per scenario 3 in the user manual, where the preamp is out of the HT signal path.
