Josh358 or anyone else know what speaker cable Wendell Diller used on the Magnepan LRS demonstrated at AXPONA 2019? Gauge size, length? I understand bare wire ends is the preferred hookup...right?

TIA,

I never thought of looking, but from as best I can tell in pics, it doesn't look like anything real special

Hi Scotth3886,

I just found a nice closeup, courtesy of The parttime audiophile:
https://parttimeaudiophile.com/2019/...r-axpona-2019/
Wendell did it bare, and looks to be maybe 14 or 12ga.
I have two 6-foot 11ga. SVS bare ends ready and waiting

Thanks,
sgibson

I posted this review somewhere, but didn't notice the speakers cable. Yeah, Wendell is not the one to be using any fancy pants speaker wire so I'm not surprised it's as basic as it is.

Hi torii,

I got Label Created email from UPS Thurs aftn. May 9
Shipped by UPS later that evening.
Credit card charged Fri. May 10
Due to arrive to my home Tues. May 14

Original quote 2-3wks, took 5wks.
Eric returned my call on Apr 29 said mine would ship wk of May 6th...he was right
I'm guessing Magnepan is really busy meeting the demand of LRS.
Hope yours ships soon too.

What was your original order date if you remember?

And yeah, I bet they're busy. I was concerned about this turning into a several month backorder situation.

Hi Scotth3886,

Eric took my order April 3rd. 8 days before the big show at AXPONA 2019 made the LRS a smash hit!
I'm a first time Magnepan customer, many years as a "box" listener. Got my spot all picked out, broke in EMOTIVA Amp 300W/ch 4ohms.
Like a kid on Christmas Eve tonight

regards,
sgibson

It took almost the entire week after Axpona to get through so my order went in about the same time yours did, Torii.

Yep, they'd make you think its 1960. You have to call. You can guess my surprise at AXPONA when Wendell emailed me two or three times to come up to the secret room to hear them. He hadn't seen me in at least 20 years or more.

Just be patient in re getting these placed just right. It takes a while with dipoles for both break-in and placement. It ain't easy.

Yep, I hear you about the placement. Still trying to find out the type of drapes, material, thickness, length, width were in Wendell's AXPONA2019 room.
Also, will take pictures of flowers in the demo room to local florist to duplicate. So much to prepare for those cute little buggers
Now, off to my "morning Joe".

Hi Guys,

UPS delivered Magnepan LRS Speakers today.
Did initial Setup and in process of using a "burn in" track for now.
I chose the Dark Cherry trim with Black Fabric.
Nice packing job by Magnepan.
Hope you guys get yours soon.

Back again guys,

Thought I'd share some Magnepan LRS Speaker features
1. Little Flippers on stand Tilt the Speaker forward if sitting in a low chair or more than 10 or 12 feet from the speakers.
2. Optional side wood trim strip shown is Dark Cherry.
3. MagnePlaner Loudspeaker badge with 3M adhesive backing. Place anywhere you like.
Finally, no serious listening or speaker arranging yet. I'm still excited with my new experience as a budget entry level Magnepan owner.

regards,
sgibson

Hi.

Question: where can I buy Magnepan LRS (or MMG) online?

I don't live on the US, but I have a friend on Florida who can receive them and ship them to me. Ideally payment through Paypal.

Thanks.

I've found rake angle to be pretty important for lifelike soundstage height. I might have to rig up some way to have a little finer range of adjustability than what this provides.

I have always been curious about Magnepan, and am currently repacking my speakers . I would love to buy the new model, I think it’s called LRS, sorry if I screwed up the destination , but EVERY review I see says the sane thing... you have to really drive them with good electronics and power, which I always take to mean separates. As much as I’d like to own serrates I don’t have the budget to do what I’d like to. The only way I’d be able to do that is Outlaws 5 channel amp & Outlaws Processor. What I have now is a Marantz 8012 AVR , which is their flagship and rated at 140 watts, and Audioholics took it apart and bench tested it and it’s well made with a big power supply.

What do you owners think? Would my Marantz drive them ? Would the Outlaw drive them? It’s a little intimidating being these are so different from every speaker I’ve ever owned and I’m really hesitant. I’d appreciate any opinions.

my focals drop below 3 ohm...my marantz 7008 could drive them to decent 100+spl levels. the added 6 db's from my external amps helps in my 20k cuft space tho.

Power: Marantz sr7008, NAD C 275Bee x 2, Video: Oppo 103, Samsung 75un6300
Speakers: Focal aria 948, Focal cc900, Klipsch synergy KSF 10.5, Magnepan LRS
Subs: Rythmik FV25HP, Rythmik FV15HP
