If you would like, PM me your info (name etc), I'll try and get in touch with him also. Doubles our chances lol. Maybe @Mark Seaton will see this post and respond directly to you.

Seaton contact

Feel free to PM me with your contact information as well rikomatik. I put down a half down payment on 4 more of Mark's of Cat 12C's last week, so Seaton Sound is my speaker brand you could say. I will see what I can do about getting Mark to at least respond about potential availability of the amp, but since the old Spark is no longer made, that may be part of the issue.

Seriously, the way communication is taken care of at SeatonSound is completely ridiculous.
Sending an email to [email protected] feels the same as sending a letter using the postal service.
At least, an simple acknowledge receipt of inquiry would denote a minimum of professionalism and respect.

For sale: 2 Mackie c200 speakers, 4 Mackie c300z speakers, Sony HW40es projector, Tag Mclaren av32r preamplifier

A quick follow up.
I plugged back the defective Spark to test an "amp reset" procedure that a fellow forum member gave me this morning.
I wasn't able to reproduce the problem. The static noise has gone by itself. It seems that having it unplugged for a while did some magic!
All's well that ends well.
Thank you for your help guys

Hello All

I need some help in selecting speakers for my Atmos Install. I currently have Cat 12C as LCR and Sparks as my Surround

I am looking at 4 in ceiling speakers either Martin Logan EM-R or Monitor 380. What would you all suggest.

I would have gone with all seaton but want to keep my cost down.

My room is roughly 15 ft long x 12 ft wide x 9.5 ft high. Distance from seating location to the front main speakers is about 8-9 ft. Would you guys say it would be worth it to go for the Catalyst 12C over the 8C or will the 8C provide all the output I'll ever need in my room? I listen very loud when possible.

Proposed setup:

Mains: 2 x Seaton Sound Catalyst 8C with matching stands
Center: 1 x Seaton Sound Catalyst 8C
Side surrounds: 2 x Seaton Sound Spark XC2 + SSA-2x2-XC
Back surrounds: 2 x Seaton Sound Spark XC2 + SSA-2x2-XC
Ceiling speakers: 4 x Seaton Sound Spark XC2 + SSA-2x2-XC
Subwoofers: 2 x Seaton Sound SubMersive HPi+ + 2 x Seaton Sound SubMersive HP-Slave

"All the output you'll ever need" says to me you really don't want limits. The 12C will have more dynamic headroom when cranking them, bottom line.

I sent an email to Mark about 9 days ago and haven't received a response yet.

I might go with JTR in this case since, based on what I've read and heard, Jeff seems to be more customer service centric.

Thanks Kain,

We have a lot in the works that we will have all on display at Axpona 2017 where we have a massive 47' x 81' x 22' tall ballroom to work with.

We'll have 2 stacks of 4 F18s flanking the free-standing fabric screen wall with Catalyst 12C's as the LCR and the different Spark models as surrounds.

Here is the add showing what we'll have in the Grand Ballroom C at Axpona (April 21-23rd):

Hey Guys - looks pretty quiet in here

I'm just looking at some possible upgrades - early stages.- (PJ, pre/pro/ceiling speakers)
I have not been following the industry for awhile (yrs)-
On speaker side just inquiring what you guys are using for Atmos - those who upgraded for Atmos- worthwhile?-
I'm running full Seaton array - 3 cats - 4 original sparks (sides/rears) and 4 submersives-
I see some notes on some updated sparks but not sure what is out there -
seems to have been several potential designs - was going to flip Mark an email but wanted to post here as well- Thanks

Is anyone here running non-Seaton speakers as surrounds or atmos with Seaton catalysts as LCR?

Any recommendations on in-ceiling speakers for atmos?

Our new Ember series are now starting to ship and were in use at Axpona both as the 4 surrounds (Ember 400) and 4 height channels (Ember 630). We had 2 Ember 400 speakers in the sound isolation examples our friends at Accurate Acoustics built up to demonstrate some of what they do, and facilitate a functional speaker demo. Many commented how impressed they were with the sound quality of the little 2.1 system in the entryway. We had an Acurus ARIES integrated powering the speakers and feeding our new JS-12 compact subwoofer. AV Nirvana has some information posted here on their forum. I now have our subwoofer models on the website, with the speaker models getting added through the course of this week. I see AV Nirvana didn't get any pictures of the Ember 630. We'll have the details posted shortly. While the pictures below show a white face with grill, they are also available in black. White may end up being a slight premium over the black versions. The way we construct these, the face and grill can always be swapped as they are bolted to the speaker. The speaker requires an 11" x 14.25" rectangular cut out with the 400 being 4" deep, and the 630 being 6" deep. The speakers are secured with 4 screw using toggle bolts into drywall or wood screws if you are up against a stud/joist.

From AV Nirvana:

Here are some images attendees posted to AVS from the new in-wall/in-ceiling speakers in the room:

Your new website does look great with clear information layout and pictures. Also, can you point me to the forum link where I can find updated info on sparks?

I know there is a program that can be installed to make the Cat 12 a full range speaker, but is that the design of the speaker or was it always intended to be used with a sub?

I just can't see spending a ton of money on 2 channel speakers+ amps+preamps when the Cat 12 may do the trick for me.

Given my question I just may be in the market for Cat12 speakers if anyone is considering selling theirs.
