Hey guys I’m working on saving for a set of jtr speakers (May take me a while with the furloughs etc) and the setup I’m considering is as follows..

Setup 1) 210RM center with 212RT towers

Setup 2) 210RM center with 212HTR LR

Setup 3) 210RM center with 212HT LR

As you can see I’m basically stuck with the 210RM as a center due to size restrictions. I’ve been looking for some good comparisons of the 212 HT ad HTR but couldn’t really find anything. Frequency wise the specs are very similar but I’m guessing the coaxial HF/MF would add a much better 2 channel experience. Can anyone comment on my thoughts above?

If you are using the 210RM as a center get speakers with a matching CD. That would be the RT or HTR line.

Thank you for the reply. For some reason I thought I read that the cd used in the 210 and 212rt were different despite the same use of coaxial. Can you confirm that they all use the same Cd?

The RT, RM and HTR all use the same compression driver.

The differences between the speakers is the size of the waveguide but they should all sound very similar.

You could also go all 210RM’s to keep LCR the same.

Yup good point would save a bunch of money also. I don’t “need” the 212 but man it would be sexy. Since I run subs basically 100% of the time it really wouldn’t be any benefit besides bragging rights lol

The 212RT’s would be great for 2ch music with no subs. I use my 215RT’s like that all of the time

Just because you cross over to subs at say 80hz, plenty of bad is still sent to your LCR’s. Remember- the crossover is a slope and not a brick wall.

I cross my 215RT’s over to subs at 80hz for movies.

No you are right but with 60hz rating I would imaging at a cross of 80 by 60 it’s down low enough that it won’t be adding much no?

I actually really like the 210 the only reason I didn’t put that as an option was due to if I go full tower then an extra $600 I might as well go with the 212

I was fully set on going with 212RT’s but after reading through a lot of comments on here comparing the towers and speaking with Jeff, he directed me to the 210’s, mostly based off my use (95% movies and gaming) and room size. I still like the idea of the bigger ones for the flex but I know the 210’s will absolutely be more than I ever need in my current room so I’ll stick with them. Maybe one day I’ll get my big room and I can upgrade

If only you were in Florida, I could be the buyer of your 210’s in the future. Trying to be patient while waiting for my 110’s for LCR.
chucky7 and hotbeef like this.

Sony VPL-HW40ES Projector on 92" Elite Screen,
Marantz AV7702mkii w/ Emotiva XPA-200 (C), UPA-2 (L&R), & UPA-700 (W/S/Atmos) for 7.2.2,
Ascend Acoustics CMT-340 SE LCR (Soon to be JTR 110HT), Sierra 1 for FW’s, CBM-170 SE for
Surrounds, HTM-200 SE for Ceiling Atmos, & dual RA (RIP) Gamma 18" subs (JTR someday)
<1300cf dedicated theater room (re-purposed den) with a couple Acoustimac panels.

I’ve been watching the used market and haven’t seen any 212 htr or rt or the 210 modes. Guess that’s a testimony to how people enjoy them but man would it be nice to find a slightly used pair

You might want to contact JTR directly to see if there might be something used they have.

HT: Oppo UDP-203 -> Lumagen RadiancePro 4446 {18 GHz input x2 & 18 GHz output x1 cards} - "new (051820 FW)" 18 GHz microcode - parallel outs to --> [Audio: Denon 5308CI] --> [Video: JVC RS520 FW v30.1]

I didn’t know that was an option. Thank you I’ll shoot him an email now to get an idea of pricing. I don’t think I could swing it right now but very soon so good to know what I am aiming for

I asked Jeff recently about used/B-stock gear. He side that since he’s mostly “made to order“ he rarely has any of that kind of gear available.

Depends on the slope. If the crossover slope is 12db and you cross at 80hz it would be down 6db at 60hz. So if you are playing at 90db’s it would be at 84db. Still pretty loud.

Yeah true and at 40 you should be 78db which is still no slouch. With the subs picking up that frequency and assuming they are playing flat well through crossover would you be missing anything? I always assumed you wouldn’t but I could be wrong

Man they built me up only to beat me back down! Haha thanks for the info I sent an email we will see what they come back with at least. I would imagine they likely wouldn’t have much b stock since if there is an issue with the box they prob just rebuild

I made a JTR subreddit on Reddit. The subreddit can be used for sharing pictures of your setups (only if they include a JTR product) and for discussing all things JTR. https://www.reddit.com/r/JTRspeakers/

Sounds good! I just shared the link to the Official JTR Speakers Subwoofer Thread too. This could also increase brand awareness of JTR, because a Redditor may check it out when viewing my profile, for example.

I have been running that type of setup for a while now. I used it with T12s and now use it with 212s. I have never had the ability to go with a AT screen so always had to put the center below the screen.

I have a stand I built for the center that is below the projection screen and have it angled slightly upward. I also put felt on the top of the speaker to absorb any light reflections off the speaker.

Considering JTR is now present on all social media, I thought it may be a good idea to create a Telegram Group, that will allow discussion and quick sharing of pictures of our JTR gear. It is a public group, anyone an join: https://t.me/jtrspeakers.

Let's give it a try and see if it works.

For those new to Telegram, it is like WhatsApp, except it is possible to hide phone numbers (Settings > Privacy and Security > Phone Number set to "My Contacts" or "Nobody", instead of "Everyone"), and groups can be as large as 200,000 participants. Several flashlight and other EDC gear enthusiasts have Telegram groups.
