Which system would you recomend for 450$?
i know it is not much but it is all i have
i want it to be a 5.1 system (or more https://www.avsforum.com/ubb/wink.gif ) and with dts support.
i thought about pioneer htp-210, how is this system?

do you think i can get a flat panel based system?
if i can, which should i choose, and what reciver should i use for it?

liran,

I don't know what prices are like in Israel, but for your budget, I'd recommend a receiver like the Onkyo TX-DS484, which can be found for about $250. For speakers, check out Home Theater Direct's Level One line. It features a complete 5.1 set-up. I don't know what they sound like, but HTD has a pretty good reputation, and it's just about the cheapest 5.1 system I've ever seen. Here's the link:

Good luck!

No, I don't believe you'll be able to get a flat panel system in $450 range. Not unless you use a 10 year old b&w laptop as display. https://www.avsforum.com/ubb/wink.gif

For that money, you may consider looking at some home-theater-in-a-box system. They combine a DVD player & DD/DTS receiver in a single unit, plus 5 speakers and a sub. You may be able to find some in the $450-500 range.

these htd speakers are sold only in pairs, i only want five, what should i do?
another question about it: these speakers already have an 8" woofer in them, so, will i need a subwoofer for my system?
the onkyo recivers are not very good, they dont have 100 watt/channel like the htd speakrs, and some of them dont have dts or dolby prologic. so i will look for another reciver.

watts in a reciever are almost always relative to different speakers and ohm ratings and blah blah blah. Dont worry about watts, just quality. IMHO Onkyo reciever are great for the prices, and Home Theater Direct has a great reputation and the level one set actually includes a sub! I'd say, go for an Onkyo reciever and the HTD set

Hello Liran,

I agree with the earlier posters. For the money you have to work with, you can't beat the onkyo and htd speakers.
You get the whole level one 5.1 speaker system for around $150 usd. It's an incredible bargan.
