May I ask which stands? I’m also looking for some for 530s.

I went with these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Kanto-SP32P...-/292713388105

They also come in 26". I like their simple design & the fact that they're all metal (apparently many of the cheaper ones on Amazon have plastic and/or particle board bases? No thanks.)

FYI, $550 Is probably the cheapest you will ever see again on Ebay. Now that there out of stock with new new orders and the studio 6 out soon these will be in high demand like they were over the last two years. Once the current overstock of those trying to make a quick buck ends the proces will rise once again even higher for the 530s.

If you didnt already know jbl also sold the 530s for $300 many years ago.
i am of the opinion that the 530 is *back* for a while... and will be on sale at $300 again this fall, time will tell

Agree. Just a matter of time before another run of them. Good luck to anyone guessing the price next go around though.

With the Studio 6's coming out... all signs point to... no more Studio 5's.

I agree. I mean you never know with Samsung/Harmon/JBL but it seems to me this may have been the last hurrah. I am very happy with the Studio 5 and am excited to hear how the Studio 6 compares.

I would imagine JBL will show demo models at CEDIA this year along with their newest Synthesis lineup with a late 2019 or early 2020 street date. I'll snap pictures if they are displayed when I'm at the expo.

I was able to get me a pair of the 530s on this last run fortunately. I also just ordered a pair of the 580s yesterday when they went on sale. So i would just order a pair of the 580s for the rear and call it a day. By the time you buy stands for the 530s you are at or above the cost of the 580s. That way you will still have matching rears. I paid 593.00 shipped for my 580s with additional discount after chatting with jbl on the website. That is a no brainer at that price.

$593 is a lot for rears. I am looking for something around $300.

Not really. If anything the Series 6 speakers would probably be voiced similarly to the Series 5. They too have almost the same compression tweeter and since your 590's will be behind an AT screen, it won't matter that the surrounds look a little different.

I'm having a hell of a time getting the 520c's volume balanced with the others. It's fine for music, but then I put on a movie and can't hear the dialogue because it's drowned out by the music or sound effects coming from the L&R (which, ironically, is the entire reason I went down the JBL rabbit hole to begin with--I was having the same exact issue with my prior center channel). So for movies I have to go into my AVR and raise the volume on my center channel in order to bring out the voices. It's a pain in the ass and is only made more annoying by the fact that each movie varies, requiring more or less volume tweaking in the center channel in order to hear dialogue properly. Some movies are fine, some require me to put the center volume up +2, some +4, etc. So I'm constantly having to fuss with my AVR each time I switch sources or movies. It's frustrating that I went through all the trouble (and expense) of buying all new speakers only to end up right back where I began.

Which speakers do you have for front L/R? I have 590 towers all the way across the front, with my center behind a 55" panel TV. Sounds amazing, and does not have the problem you're describing at all.

It's a Harman Kardon AVR1700 (old, I know, but I love the way it sounds and the fact that it gives off NO heat). It does have an auto-calibration feature but I've never used it. Actually I started to use it once but it was so loud I was afraid it was going to blow my speakers so I aborted it.

I just hooked up a pair of 530s for the R and L channels last night. The 520c definitely SOUNDS better than the center it replaced, I'm just having the same exact issue with it that I was having with the prior one. I might also get beaten senseless for saying this here, but the 530s kind of hurt my ears I can't listen to them at very high volume or else the treble starts to really bother me. I have to either listen to them at a lower volume than I could my old speakers or go in and turn the treble down (that's considered sacrilege here, no?)

I can agree with this, just unboxed my 530s a couple of hours ago and can hear some of that harshness with certain tracks at high volume.

Not really worried about it though; I fully intend to withhold judgement until they've played for several hours for break in. But also, I figure my room contributes to that particular effect....I've only been listening to them in direct mode, no room EQ.

More and more of the comments here back up an observation from Z's review of the 530 on YouTube: The compression driver can go as loud as you want, but the woofer is more limited. So over a certain volume, the sound gets treble heavy.

This is making me think more and more that the 530 is the perfect surround (perhaps, in my experience, a better surround than having more towers!) But I'm increasingly glad that I have 590 towers across the front (including as the center).

Is anybody using 580s for surrounds or rears or what within the JBL line would be good surrounds or rears for the 590s in the front?

I'm not even turning the 530s up that high before they annoy me, as they're being used in a bedroom. I tried cranking up the volume to see if I could get the tweeters to run away from the bass like Z said they would and I couldn't really find that point (it got so loud I just gave up...it's obviously at a volume way louder than I'd ever need the speakers to be at).

Anyway, I thought the solution for me was to turn the treble down a few notches but then I found that I have to turn it back up when I watch movies so that the dialogue is more audible. It's too much fussing with levels for me. I wish there was a way to turn the treble down only in the R & L speakers but keep it up in the center where it's needed and doesn't annoy me. I just unhooked the 530s and swapped my old R & L speakers back in. I'm keeping the 520c though. The 530s seemed to add more problems to my setup than they solved whereas the 520c is a net gain so it's staying. Funny because I almost didn't even order the 520c.

I just picked up 3 590s for my front sound stage. I missed out on the 530s and I am looking for side and rear surrounds. Has anyone used the JBL SP8II in-walls with the Studio series up front? How do they perform as surrounds?

What receiver are you using that doesn't have separate EQ of the center and fronts? Every receiver I've seen allows that.

For a while I was using 580's/520c up front and 270's for rears and surrounds. You can mix and match with the Studio 2 line and it sounded great to me. The 580's would be killer for surrounds and rears but overkill if you have sub(s). If you want wall mount, Studio 210's. Bookshelf, 230's. Main thing with HT is to have matching LCR. Surrounds and rears you can mix and match at least imo. I only bought the 530's because of the killer price. I need to demo some more to see if it's an upgrade or downgrade compared to the 270's.

HT 7.1.4: Sony X940E, Marantz SR8012, LR: JBL Studio 580's, C: JBL Studio 520c, Surrounds and Rears: JBL Studio 530's, ATMOS: JBL Studio 210's, Sub: HSU VTF-3 mk5
MB 5.1: Sony 55" X950G, Denon X3500H, LR/Surrounds: JBL Studio 270’s, C: JBL Studio 235c, Sub: HSU VTF-2 mk5
Living Room/Office 5.1: Sony 49" 900E's, HTNT5's with wireless rear channels

Harman Kardon AVR 1700. From what I've found it only allows me to turn up/down the bass and treble for all speakers, not each one individually. That would be amazing if I could find a way to do that.

Sorry to say this, but it's time to upgrade your receiver.

Listen up, studios! Dolby Atmos Lite™ print-outs must stop!!
