Well, as of today I've officially joined the Chane family!

Anyone remember about how long shipping takes? I can't wait! Should 10ga wire be enough?

Those SI woofers are monsters. Will that bridged iNuke be enough to get the output you want?

Either way, it's gonna feel like getting kicked in the head. In the best way.

Keep us updated.... And with pix.

1) that's great to hear!

2) the bridged iNuke puts out 650 actual watts from what I've read. SI rates the sub at 600w, but people put 1000+ to them with no issue. But I think for my application, an 18" sub with 650w will be overkill, if anything

3) pics will definitely be posted, as I have special plans for the Chanes; I expect they will be some of the most well-dressed speakers around

I'm excited for you!

10awg copper is more than enough. I can say from experience that 8awg wire is A TIGHT FIT on the Chane 5 way binding posts. Even 12awg is technically overkill for true 8 ohm speakers at sane wire lengths.

I'm of the "more gauge can't hurt" crowd. But I don't obsess over it.

I use 12 gauge & think it's plenty thick enough for normal distances; mine all under 10 feet

Primary set-up 5.1.4; Yamaha A2050, Paired w/Parasound P5 & ATI 522NC 2 channel amp
Revel F206 fronts & Revel M16 rears; Outlaw X12 Sub & 4 RSL C34e in-ceilings

Secondary 5.1: Denon S900W, Polk LSiM703/704C, Polk RC80i in-ceiling rears, RSL Speedwoofer 10s

Yep, glorious overkill at those lengths.

Just to get a bit more specific on speaker wire size.
Longer wire lengths need bigger gauge wire. Lower ohms number needs bigger gauge wire.
... up to 35ft=14awg (for 8 ohm load)
... up to 60ft=12awg (for 8 ohm load)

... up to 30ft=14awg (for 6 ohm load)
... up to 45ft=12awg (for 6 ohm load)

MAIN SPEAKERS: (2) Chane A5rx-c. CENTER SPKR: (1) Chane A2.4. SURROUND SPKRS: (4) Chane A1.4.
AVR: Onkyo TX-SR706. MAIN AMP: ATI 1506. SUBS: (1) 15" DIY sealed box, (2) 18" Fi DIY IB. SUB AMP: Behringer EP4000. TV: plasma Panasonic TC-P55VT50. REMOTE: Harmony 700.

I just received a pair of 1.4s and a 2.4 center. They sound great so far. I will probably move the 1.4s to the back wall for surrounds and get 2 more 2.4s for L/R. Due to room limitations, my surrounds are mounted above my couch as you can see in the picture. How can I hang the 1.4s on the wall? I am going to get rid of the polks that are hanging on the wall now.

There are several who have used bottom mount wall mounts. I'm sure they'll chime in.

I use A3RX-C towers as my surround speakers, so I don't have much experience with wall mounts.

I am running them full-range right now, with the port plugs in, so they can create some energy. On several occasions in horror films, I have been genuinely startled or just had to get up and make sure it wasn't my door or window that opened.

The wife actually hates them because they sound so uncolored and real. The rear soundfield is huge, as well. Yeah, there is no going back to smaller surround speakers unless I move the A2.4's back there.

Multichannel music is, to make an understatement, enveloping.

That sounds intense. Not sure I could handle the too real sounding horror effects coming from behind me though. I watched the horror movie The Ring a few years back and it messed me up so bad I had to buy a night light. Not my proudest moment to say the least. I'll have to stick with my BIC side surrounds for now.

So I bought my Chanes back around August of last year and I was in a temporary living situation until just recently. Happy to report these bad larry's are now in their final resting place lol and as we all know, pics or it didn't happen! I continue to be impressed with them, I use them as my everyday TV surround, movie surround, and music speakers- they just sound fantastic. In particular, I've found in movies I've watched 100 times, I'm picking up little nuances I haven't heard before like seat belts clicking in, or rubble bits shifting after an explosion- everything is just super clear. One of my favorite movies to put speakers through is Godzilla and the Chanes give me that ear to ear smile.

I think I'm missing some of that real low end bass with certain types of rap & edm music, but that's nothing a sub can't solve (which I should really get anyways) and I also think that's to be expected. Overall, couldn't be happier.

Looking GOOD, brother!

My A5's would have useable output into the high 20's in my old listening space, but not at anything like the levels my old HSU VTF-15h could produce. Granted, my old room was 24'x24' with a 14' celling.

Might be time to grab a good sub from HSU, Rhythmik, SVS, etc?

Thanks dude!! Took a while to get into this place (new construction condo with 7+ months of delays) so being able to take a step back and see your vision for a place finally come to fruition has been awesome.

I hear ya on the output and on the sub. This room is my living / dining space, 20'x20'x13' and open to the kitchen / little entry way from the front door. I've had my eye on a PSA V1500 or V1801 for months on end, but with all these new housing expenses- haven't been able to pull the trigger just yet. Definitely have my mind set on a ported sub. If you notice to the right on the pic, I have a little bump out area there.. thinking it would be perfect for some bass!

Given you're old room was a bit bigger than mine- did you find you got that chest kick / a$$ rattle in the MLP from your 15 HSU? Unsure whether I can save a couple hundred by going with the V1500 over its bigger brother.

In any event, I'm sure I'm going to have some upset neighbors at some point

Disregarding the upset neighbor situation....
I would go with the biggest subs and/or multiple subs to acquire the proper lowest frequencies. You may be able to get proper sub bass (~20-30hz) with a smaller sub, but the bigger the sub, the more even the frequency response will be in the ultra sub bass realm (below 20hz), which is an entirely different feeling than the standard chest kick from the higher frequencies.
Another benefit of bigger/more subs is there would be less distortion when they are trying to push out those massive SPLs. Very similar to the situation between the Chane A2.4 & A5. They both have similar low frequency extension, but the A5 can output much more low end with less distortion because it has more driver surface area.

MAIN SPEAKERS: (2) Chane A5rx-c. CENTER SPKR: (1) Chane A2.4. SURROUND SPKRS: (4) Chane A1.4.
AVR: Onkyo TX-SR706. MAIN AMP: ATI 1506. SUBS: (1) 15" DIY sealed box, (2) 18" Fi DIY IB. SUB AMP: Behringer EP4000. TV: plasma Panasonic TC-P55VT50. REMOTE: Harmony 700.

Huh, I wonder where I've heard that before...

"Blu-rays were an absolute treat as well. The dialog from the A2b impressed me as much as it did while watching TV, but it was the effects and background sounds that became the star attraction. Previously unheard little details, the kind that always seem to enhance a scene, were brought to the forefront and made evident for the first time in more than one instance. Even with movies I'm intimately familiar with the Arx speakers breathed new life into their soundtrack. Whether the background was supposed to be delicate, crisp or powerful the A1b's rendered it beautifully."

I wrote that over 4 years ago when I reviewed the original version. Some things never change it seems.

If you take yourself too seriously expect me to do the exact opposite...

The VTF-15h (original) was a little undersized for my old space during loud action sequences in some action movies.

Jim, any plans to review the A2.4's?

They're noticably better than the A2b, and even than the A2RX-C.

Jon and I haven't discussed anything, but we did exchange a few emails not too long ago on another topic.
