I thought the discussion was about two different amplifiers for the LF and HF sections so the crossover effect was my concern, although I was thinking of comb filtering (equivalence) caused by the different drivers interacting across their entire region of overlap (depends upon the crossover slope) in addition to the usual problem right at the crossover frequency.

Hi - I am looking for guidance for soffit mounting. I'm finishing a basement room that will serve double duty for audio (not cinema) and kids playroom. I was thinking that soffit mounting a pair of M2 could be a good compromise between my audiophile desires and kid realities. It could help with the room interactions (like a studio setup), and also keep out of harms way.

Is soffit mounting a good approach? I don't see much online about this for the M2's outside of placements behind a cinema screen (which I wont have).

And, although this is a biased place to ask this, is this even a good approach for audio - jazz and folk? Over something like McIntosh/B&W (which I might have to build a cage around to protect it from kids

Do these M2's ever hit the used market? Aside from the ones I sold a few years ago it doesn't appear that these are sold very often after the initial purchase.

The magic of eBay. They were owned by the engineer and he was changing from working in a fixed studio to a more mobile environment so they were just going to sit for a few years. They even came with custom flight cases.

I have seen three sets of them on eBay. The last ones I saw were pretty beat up.

I just checked and none have come up recently.

They don't come up often. I bought mine about a year ago and the last set I saw was about 6 weeks ago. I did not see any between those. I believe the set from a few weeks ago was actually a damaged b-stock set for sale. I think the people that have them want to keep them.

I have a pair of M2's in mint condition I will be posting shortly - I had to sacrifice this as surrounds because of a room change and am using SCL4's instead

So, when I was moving my M2s out of the way to drop my new Seaton Sound F18's behind them, I noticed the tops were a bit scratched. I only have some light vases and decorations on them, and I'm a little peaved that this "finish" scratched so easily. I've had this same stuff on top of my old Seaton subs and Cat12s for years with no marring to their finishes.

That said, I'm not going to do anything about it, because the stuff is just going right back on top...I may lay a barrier between to avoid further scratches. But, anyone have an idea of what I could use to "buff it out"?

Vases and decorations on your M2's...the AV gods left you a warning with those scratches. "Thou shall not adorn superfluously the sacred..."

Come on guys, those vases could have been adorned with skulls, flames, or flaming skulls. That would've been OK. I can't believe the lack of charity here.

High-gloss finishes tend to show scratches. A microfiber cloth (slightly moistened) might be enough to eliminate the marks, perhaps with a bit of furniture polish/wax, or an auto buffing cloth if they are deeper. I would cut a piece of synthetic rubber shelf liner or carpet antislip pads to place under the vases and decorations.

These definitely aren't high gloss.

I received mine all scratched up, so it's less worry I suppose. I used to never sit anything on my Revel's or any other speaker.

The M2's were never great looking speakers to begin with.

LOL, you guys! Hey, listen, I'd put nothing on them if they were in a dedicated room, but my wife thinks they are ugly and she's accommodating enough as it is, so...compromise.

I'll give buffing them a shot. It's not like the scratches are deep or excessive, just...annoying, I guess, for the finish to scuff so easily.

Mark Seaton gave me some scraps from the material he uses between the SubMs, too. I am going to put it between and under the Crown amps because they slip a bit (I re-purposed some rubber pot holders at the moment, lol). I guess I can use some of it under these blasphemous decorations as well, .

In the same vein perhaps, I was going to post a photo of male reproductive organs in an ornamental glass jar, but somehow that doesn't seem proper given DreamWarrior's full disclosure of implementing placative decorating strategies...

Ummm...thanks, lol. Hey, the women let me put 4 Seaton F18s on the wall and 2 SubMs behind the couch in our living room. I'd say she gives me a lot of leeway, the least I can do is stick something pretty on them for her, haha!

If the finish on the M2 is as thin as the 7 series, I wouldn't. You'll likely to make it worse.

Maybe the solution is not to be so anal about how they look when I'll never really see the tops what with all the decorations on top, HAHA! If/when they go behind a screen wall then it won't matter in the slightest.
