We have a house that is prewired for (5) in-ceiling speakers and the subwoofer to the side (in front).
The room is 19' wide and it is 12' from the television location to the rear speakers.
The kitchen is behind the viewing area so the entire depth of the space is roughly 26'.
9' ceilings throughout.
I haven't had to think about these components for 10 years so I'm somewhat out of the loop...any help is appreciated.
Spend the money on speakers and sub or receiver given the conditions?
Budget is fairly loose...say $2000-$2500, but wifey will be happy with less if quality is there.
Speakers - I don't know what direction to go here. I think I'd like aimable tweeters. Not sure if they should be angled or not. Here are some I've looked at:
Polk RC80i - $137/pair at Amazon. Reviews look good. If this route, get all (5) or go with a different speaker for mid-channel?
Martin Logan ML80 - On craigslist I can get (5) for $700.
Proficient C870 - (5) on craigslist for $1000; $190 through reseller on amazon.
Any other that makes sense.
We have a UN65F8000 television, a 3D Blu Ray player, and DirecTV box. May add Xbox One in future. We have iPhones/iPads so it would be nice if we can communicate with the receiver to play our music.
I've been mainly looking at Denon...no idea why: AVR-X2000, AVR-1713, AVR-1613.
Open to anything.
Subwoofer - No idea as I haven't gotten this far.
Given size of room will (1) do the job? I assume this will change the receiver selection if not.
If anyone has any recommendations or can steer me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it.
