Ok, so i have been slowly building my system and i am now only lacking the most important part. SPEAKERS.

my equipment : Samsung 60 Plasma

Emotiva UMC-200
Emotiva XPA-5
Emotiva x series interconnects

i dont need the spill on YOU can only tell which is better by listening to them and what sounds better to you.

I need your opinions and experience that you may have had or heard these speakers, and tell me your thoughts to help guide my decision.

I am specifically looking for Front towers. No center or surrounds. Yes sub, but that will be another discussion. ( i will slowly build to 5.1)

Some of the models i am looking at :

Paradigm studio 60's

Paradigm Monitor 7 or 9

Triad Omni Gold SE-IS

Triad Silver Monitor

Martin Logan Motion 20 or 40

Emotiva XRT 5.2

Let me know what you guys think and what you know and which you would suggest.

you can also suggest other brands and models within this price/model range

thanks!!!!

Not on your list but I would highly recommend you audition Phase Technology PC 9.5's.  They play magic.  Most amazing speakers in that price range I've listened to.

My two channel room has a pair of Phase Tech PC 0.5 bookshelves and a pair of Sunfire HRS-10 subs (one per channel).  I thought they sounded superb (and they do) but when I heard the 9.5's I fell in love.  I've been blessed to have listened to some great speakers and I count the 9.5's among my favorite.  And keep in mind that my everyday 2 channel system (at work) is a pair of California Audio Technology Sequoias..

The 9.5s are an all around great speaker.  No problems on theater listening.  Phase makes a great center channel that matches the 9.5 perfectly, the PC 3.5.  Also in the PC line are On-wall PC surrounds...  IIRC they retail around $3000-$3500 for the pair.  There's a dealer locator on Phases' webpage.

You missed the best ones...lol. I don't see any that I could personally recommend to a friend on your list.

I recommend the PSB Image T6 speakers. They are excellent, and only $1300 per pair.

Stereophile tested them and said they were the best in their class, and picked them repeatedly for a "Recommended System" article.

The Absolute Sound did exactly the same.

I had them for two years and loved them.

I then heard the Vandersteen Treos and fell in LOVE again and spent $6000 on them....but maybe that's more than you are looking to spend.

The KEF Q900 would be my second choice; they are also excellent.

I believe the Studio 60s (have owned some) are priced similarly to the Salk SongTowers. I would definitely recommend the latter.

i have dealers within 30min of me. that have paradigm, ML, KEF. I will try and demo some next week. unfortunatly most of these places only carry the very high end models that cost a fortune. i am looking for entry/mid level High end speakers.

do the Kef Q900 have grilles? i have a kid and plus im not a fan of the exposed speaker look, reminds me of my high school days .ha

You also forgot to mention that they are truly made in USA with an excellent warranty and customer support.

I would take a good look at the PSB T6's along with the C5 center. I have demoed most on your list the only speaker that came close to the PSB's was the paradigms.

No PSB's can be found in stores as well as online. And for a sub I would take a look at the HSU VFT15H I love that Sub or take a look at SVS as well. Both are online only

so went to the local magnolia today, i demoed alot of speakers.

B&W CM8,CM9,CM10 - all around great music or movies, not as bright
ML motion 20,40 - music is bliss, movies not so much
ML Electromtions - didnt care for, had to be sitting right in front
Def techs - i thought were not very good, hate the built in sub. personally

these where all running from a $2k pioneer elite receiver, (minus the CM10's, they were on Marantz pre/pro and marantz amp)

first she put in music cd, and cranked up the Motion 40's. WOW, for music these were amazing sounding speakers, very clear and crisp, slightly bright
next she switched it to the CM9's, the sounded much more full and had depth to them, more bass as well.
then Def tech, which i immediately disliked.
ML MOTION 40 WINS MUSIC HANDS DOWN.

next she put in the bluray (pacific rim)
the Motion 40's did not sound good at all to me for movies. very bright, harsh and when action scenes came on it was all over the place, ear bleeding.
the CM9's where night and day better for movie viewing.

the CM8's sounded very impressive also with movies. im not sure they where much diff than the CM9.
the CM10 with the marantz setup was in a different league all together, they were amazing. but $$$$$$

btw the b&w sub danced around the dyanamo ML subwoofer all day long. Just seemed to rattle your chest more, the dynamo 500 was still good, but not the WHOA factor as the B & W

so i need your thoughts and opinions, on what i have demoed!!!

I would skip most major company's subs. They are very expensive compared to the internet only brands. I have heard some of MA's towers and bookshelves and all I can say is that they are quite impressive. The kefs are quite nice both the R and Q series.

Look at these Focal's. They are a very nice speaker especially at this price point. I would look at the 918 black diamond, and the Chorus 836. If you would entertain the bookshelf option I would look at the Klipsch 650 THX. They are amazing. I have heard them in a dedicated theatre at a local audio shop and they dynamics and clarity was incredible. The Book of Eli was my demo material at that time. I believe the klipsch come with a grill but im not 100% sure.
