Hello all,

I know there are numerous threads with similar questions, but mine is very specific so I hope you all don't mind.

Considering either RF-52 ii or RB-61 ii for my new fronts in my medium sized room, stepping up from my old Synergy SF-1 with SC-1 center.

I have read that the RB-61 ii actually have punchier mids than the RF-52 ii, and with these towers' dual 5.25 drivers, I'm not too surprised.
I plan to buy an RC-52 ii center, although I have considered the RC-62 ii.

If I get the RF-52 ii, I'll be surely getting the RC-52 ii for the center.
If I get the RB-61 ii, I would likely still get the RC-52 ii, but I realize I could consider stepping up to the RC-62 ii, given that the drivers would then be 6 1/2 across my front stage.

I'm seated centrally about 8-10 feet from a 50" plasma. I could be moving around a few times the next few years, so with my upgrade I'm planning for a medium-size setup as a compromise.
My receiver is a Yamaha RX-V675.

For a sub, I'm looking at the SVS SB12-NSD.

Which of these combos would you vote for and why:

1. RF-52 ii with RC-52 ii
2. RB-61 ii with RC-52 ii
3. RB-61 ii with RC-62-ii

I imagine the RC-62 ii would not be a good center if I go with the RF-52 ii, and I think the RF-62 ii, although awesome, are just beyond my needs.

Thanks!

3. RB-61 ii with RC-62-ii

No need for towers with a subwoofer especially with a quality subwoofer like you have

I would go with the RB-61 with the matching center with with same size drivers

3 is the best pick because it has the better center. I would say the rb61ii and rf52ii are really close. If you go towers I would get at least the rf62ii.

I agree that the towers aren't a necessity if you have a good sub. I am just partial to towers.

I as well. Towers have a bigger box and usually more power handling. So at loud levels the towers are working less than a bookshelf.

Note.. That is my opinion if the two are of the same quality and design.

Not a fan of MTM horizontal centers. Would pick none of your options. If going klipsch bookshelf, would get 3 rb-61's or 3 rb-81's for the front.

5 rb-81's are kind of pricy if eventually going 5.1. So would go for 6 rb-61's, then sell one off. I prefer direct firing surround for improved multichannel stereo performance.

That would be good too. The rc-62 is a great center though. Regardless of how it sits. biggrin.gif
