buying my first setup. got the Ascend acoustic 340's

and a SVS SB-1000 sub

then bought a Yamaha rx-v375

please note I'm very limited in my knowledge of speakers and receivers, and the jargon for them.

put the wires in front left and front right on the back of the Yamaha receiver

ran them to the speakers, oh what do you know, life is complicated, there is 4 things i can put wire into

on the top it says tweeter input (high frequency)

on the bottom it says Woofer input (low frequency)

each having a black and red, positive negative, from left to right.

what do I do?

Life isn't complicated. On the back of the speaker where the binding posts are you'll notice a gold colored piece of metal connecting the black to black and red to red. You can hook your speaker wire to either the top or bottom, just leave that gold piece in place. Remove it only if/when you bi-amp your Ascends. Remember to keep polarity correct. Speaker wire has one wire with a mark, ribs, or something to distinguish it from the other wire. On mine there is a '+' mark on the wire and nothing on the other wire. I hook the '+' to the red connection of my receiver and the red posts on my speakers. Nice choice on your speakers!

thanks so I just connected them to the top and kept the bridge on.

actually have one more question. I plugged my sub wire in the back of the receiver, it clearly is marked "sub" or whatever on the yamaha.

but I go to the sub and there's like 4 different spots i can plug the cable...?
