...or there won't be enough of a difference to justify the upgrade?

I use the klipsch for music listening only, and there's no where to audition the Focals (or anything else for that matter) locally.

I will appreciate your input.

That should be like upgrading from a Ford Fiesta to a BMW.

IMO the Focal speakers are one of the best-sounding speakers you can get in their price range, and the Klipsch speakers are near the bottom of a very long list.

A HUGE upgrade; highly recommended.

Music Direct has those marked down from $700 to $449 right now; maybe you already knew that.

Actually, the 806V is even better, and they have those marked down from $1000 to $599; I would recommend those.

The marked down price is indeed why I am considering this.

Have you listened to the Klipsch? I know people always bash on Klipsch and praise Focal, but I would like to hear what someone who has tried both thinks.

Have you listened to the Focals? If yes, how would you compare them to your RB-61s?

I have owned Focal and Klipsch speakers - and do consider Focal an upgrade for music

However my choice and I own them - JBL Studio 530, they are real good

That's the kind of feedback I was looking for. Was it a particular aspect of the Focal that you liked better or the overall quality?

JBLs, huh? Would you mind elaborating a bit? I'm not familiar with them. Why are those your choice?

For Focal, more smooth, refined, less forward > and realistic sounding with a good tweeter for the price.

I haven't heard either so I won't comment other than to say that I like how my RF62s sound for music and HT. I particularly like them for jazz vocals ( melody gardot, Dianna krall, Sade ) and blues.

Is there something you don't like about your rb61s?

Bottom line, only you can determine whether you would like the focals or jbls better.

No, but seeing that I have not listened to any of the other speakers my contentment with the Klipsch doesn't mean much.

I thought with the recent low price of the focal I may be able to improve my listening experience. Blame it on the 'paradox of choice' I guess ;)

Both MusicDirect and Harman/JBL have a return policy - and I believe Harman/JBL
in most cases pays return shipping.

That's the thing. You could be chasing "upgrades" indefinitely or until your money runs out. smile.gif

I'm sure there are speakers out there that I would like better than my Klispch, but at what price? Then if I got something I liked better there might be something that I like even better out there and so on.....

If you have the money and the time then go for it.
