I am creating my first home theater system and have the Yamaha 675 AVR but now am looking for speakers for a 15x15 living room. The problem is that I have no clue what to look for in a 5.1 setup. Looking for set that can be used for movies, music and tv.

Here are some choices, but feel free to let me know if there are better options:

Sub -

Polk PSW10 for $125

PSW505 for $250

Front LR

Polk Monitor 60 II for $275 Ea

Polk Monitor 55T for $125 EA

DT BP8B for $175 EA

Klipsch Synergy F-10 for $150 EA

Center and Rears are still unknown at this point.

Any help is appreciated.

What is your budget for the speakers and sub and what will you be listening to?

Thanks.

Budget is kind of in flux which is why I didn't say.   Perhaps, what I should have said is of the components listed which is the best value?

A budget is much more helpful when trying to suggest a good value.

I rarely see the Polk subs recommended, but I do see people happy with them on here. I see recommendations for Dayton 1200 or Bic F12 or Bic PL-200 pretty frequently. I don't have any experience with those directly.

I would recommend setting a budget ~$500 for the sub as it will make a difference larger than you (or at least I) would think. Get something from HSU/SVS/Rythmik. I own a Rythmik and love it. I had a cheaper Klipsch sub ($300) but when I moved to the Rythmik it was a marked difference in quality.

I am not sure I have heard those specific Polks Monitors, but I would prefer the Cambridge S30 over what I have heard. I have not heard the Klipsch so I cannot comment on those. Well, I probably could comment, but choose not to. smile.gif

In my opinion, unless you get a great sale your best bang for the buck is usually Internet Direct. That does not necessarily mean the cheapest either.

How about these if you are wiling to spend 550 on the front two?

Also, please remember the front three should timbre match.
