Question Old tweeter (Eminence ?) vs new B&C (DE250 ?)

Hello All,

I just took delivery of a couple of MT-110SR and waiting delivery for the MTM-210C.

I was wondering if you experienced PSA guys can shed some light for me about the tweeter and the difference between speakers with the old eminence driver and the new ones with the B&C.

any noticeable difference ?

thanks a lot for the clarifications,

have a nice day,

Ben

I talked with Tom about this awhile back and he told me there is a difference, the new ones are a bit better but it's not night and day or anything like that. With movies and games you probably wouldn't really notice it because your focus is on the screen. With music where you may be critically listening you probably could tell the difference and the difference would be more noticeable with some material than other, but even then it won't be night and day.

Personally I decided I'm not upgrading my current PSA speakers to the new tweeters. My current PSA speakers make me smile every time I hear them so I'm good. But if you just got new speakers you have the new tweeters which are even better than the original tweeters.

Subwoofers: PSA TV36 iPal X2 ...Speakers: PSA MTM-210T L/R - PSA MTM-210C Center- PSA MT110SR's Surrounds - RSL C34E Atmos... Motion Actuators: Crowson Shadow 8 - X2
Video: Samsung UN65KS9000 4K SUHD - Oppo UDP-203... AVR:Denon X4400... Gaming: XBOX ONE S

Hello Hop thanks a lot for your reply.
My speakers even if "new" to me are ex-demo from my trusted dealer in the UK.
I'm very curious and kind of 'nervous' ... I own a pair of S3611 and they are great subs but it's the first time that I'm going to use speakers which are not labeled as high end but according to all of you guys and my dealer too those speakers are amazing and the dynamism thy bring to movies it's second to none.

once I'll hook them up (i still need to decide if it is better to get vesa mount so I can properly direction them towards the only seat available ... mine ) and I'll calibrate them I'll report back.
It would be interesting to compare them with my Harbeth 40.2 40th anniversary ... will see :-)

thanks for the info and any advice (for example toe them in towards my seat ?) will be more then welcom.

have a nice day,

Ben

MTM210 is 10/12db more efficient than 40.2 IIRC, You will be blown away.

I do not think that quality is directly related to efficiency but still I'm curious to check out how they perform :-)

Efficiency is inversely proportional to distortion.

An MTM210 will need 8 watts to reach 107db, Your Harbeth will require about 128 watts reach the same spl.

I have my R/L speakers about 8 feet apart in front and toed in so they would cross about a foot behind my head. I tried toeing in so they would fire right at the MLP and I also tried so they would fire a bit in front of the MLP, all sounded good but I liked it right behind my head the most.

So I recently moved my Home Theater from my Living Room to my Basement....much more of a dedicated environment now. This move allowed me to upgrade from MT110's across the front to 210 Towers and 210 Center which I am obviously loving!!! I just installed a pair of RSL C34E Atmos speakers and have now switched gears to Rear Surrounds. I realize that MT110SR's are the obvious choice here but I do have some issues with placement/logistics and am leaning heavily towards an in-wall rear surround. The question is....are there PSA speaker owners out there who have integrated Rear Surround in-walls nicely that you'd recommend? My Top choice right now is the Revel 8" series..either the W283 or the W383. Both have the 8" driver but I think the W383 allows for aimable tweeter. Curious if folks have found other makes that seem to blend well or if there are some specific requirements I should be focusing on?

There’s a pair of MT-110SR and a pair of V1801’s heading back to Ohio in excellent condition...hit up Tom to snatch them up before they hit the warehouse. They have been very good to me and will be missed!

I’m not sure yet for speakers, but it’ll be a downgrade to fit the much smaller space. I might even try a pair of in wall speakers to save space. I’m not touching the front stage. For subs most likely a pair of TV18 IPALs.

Lol! I just wanted all my surrounds and atmos speakers to match my MT-110's. The volts are still very capable, efficient, clear and loud
(Money willing I'd have all PSA speakers though)

MT110C question - I bought the MT110C back when my setup dictated I needed a horizontal center. I now have space for vertical and would like to stand it up to match my L/R MT110's. Do I need to turn the tweeter in it, or can I just stand it up?

I just did that. 4 screws turn it either direction and enjoy. It’s amazing wish I did it sooner.

Spoiler!
Image looks amazing all blacked out like that. I'd be building a baffle wall to flush mount the speakers and subs if I had that space.
