Hello all-

I am searching for advice on my first home theater system/music system. I need a little help on the left/right speakers and subwoofer choice.
So far all I have is the receiver I will be using

Onkyo TX-NR636.

The system will be a 5.1 or 5.2(looking for help on this)

here are the options I am looking at. Money is a factor.

Option 1: cmt-340 center/cmt-170 L/R
Option 2: cmt-340 lcr

My sub options are as follows
Option 1: hsu stf-2
Option 2: svs sb1000
Option 3: rythmik lv12r
Option 4: pair of hsu stf-2

Attached is the floor plan of my house. The kitchen living room and family room are all connected and are only divided by the kitchen bar and a half wall. All floor is tile if that makes a difference. 9' ceilings throughout. 60% music/40% movie.

Thank you for the help

The CMT340s are excellent speakers in that price range- not the best looking speaker ever made, but very neutral speaker that is clear and detailed. Good bass for a bookshelf as well...
Good sized room(s) with open concept, I would go with a 12 inch sub for now and plan on a second one some day in the future as budget allows.

The 12" ported sub has just got to many great reviews not to get.

I have also been eyeing the svs prime bookshelf and center.

Would there be a noticeable difference either way?
The svs speakers do look better.

I decided on the svs fronts with the lv12r sub. Can't wait for them to ship and to hook them up!

I can't speak to the other subs, but I own an lv12r with 3 sierra 2's. and it is one seamless combo. The bass is deep, fast, and tight, and never boomy. I can't tell where the speakers end , and the sub begins.

Finding a tv Stand has turned into quite a nightmare. The svs center is about an inch to big(7.7" tall) to fit. I really need some help on this . I really liked the one shown in the link but it dosent fit the speaker. http://www.hickoryfurniture.com/aspe...formation.aspx

Try TV stands from Bell'O: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss...o+%2Caps%2C315

Better yet, go to the Bell'O website. They will give detailed dimensions.

Going to try a 71" tv stand from Wayfair. Should be here in a couple days.
