Does anyone have surrounds in a non Atmos config up a little higher than they should be? I'm setting up a basic 7 channel for the time being. Need to put the four surround up into the wall to ceiling joint angled at MLP. Pics in my build thread in sig.

Just curious if anyone here is running surrounds like this

It was nice meeting you and you are definitely welcome to my theater but it may be a few months before I have all 3 JBLs running. I was actually talking to my wife today about redoing the room and having the theater down for a while but she was No Go until the kids are back in school which is in about 6 weeks or so. The home theater gets used by the kids significantly more than me since it's the only video that gets watched in the house.

I have been contemplating going the JBL 4722N route. I am currently running Klipsch Epic CF-4s as mains. I know @Swolephile mentioned he previously had a pair of these. I would love to know how they compare. Also, my room is only 11 feet X 19. I am planning on getting an AT screen to go in front of the speakers. Think this will work?
Thanks!

I was just wondering that you might end up having to pay additional shipping cost from ebay seller as to $1140 will be the price per speaker, including shipping from them, if I understand it correctly. It is worth checking, isn't it?
What do you think those ebay speakers are worth? I can drive and pick them up. If he still has them in a few months I might pick them up.

I am not a specialist but I would take a fair guess based the what are the going prices for JBL 3722N used on ebay. I recently saw someone selling 3 used 3722N each for $200 , he is located in Florida, with the same caveat local pick up only. That's just about less than half of their going market price ( also from same dealer I had mentioned in the earlier post, which is $780 ish, although the list price may be around $1200). If they are in excellent condition and not heavily abused I would not go beyond $550 per speaker. I wish I could offer that to him, I do not know whether he will accept it or not, but I live far away in PA. Remember you do not get any warranty on anything, new ones come with warranty for five years, most probably. Good luck and don't mention that you got an advice from me although I do not know him!

It hurts me to ask this question but I am feeling like I have no other option. I have 3 4722N as LCR and 4 SCS8 for surrounds and 4 SCS8 for ceiling. Issue is that my room is only 14'. With 3 recliners placed, it leaves only enough space to walk through the sides to get to the front. Now comes SCS8 for surrounds. After placing them, there is only around 6" to pass by. You basically have to face the speaker to make sure you don't knock it down. I didn't even mount it because mounting will take extra 3".

So it seems like SCS8 need to be replaced for surround unless there is another option you guys can recommend? If it needs to be replaced then what would be a good replacement?

Thx

This won't work either. Behind sheetrock is a concrete wall and there is only 6" space b/w the two. Anything that can be mount on sheetrock and is more towards flatter shape?

Click the link below in my build thread to see what I did for surrounds in my particular space which is also concrete behind SR. The driver being used is a Radian 5210 coaxial along with a custom XO board. They sound amazing. and have a relatively shallow mounting depth. I used the entire depth of the 4" studs and basically sealed the box TO the concrete subwall using silicone. This still required the box to come out of the wall a total of 4" so I simply placed a 4" acoustic panel with the stuffing cut out over top of the surround box to basically make it "Disappear". I use 8 of the radians for satellite duty and they really are quite impressive. If you are interested in acquiring some, shoot me a PM and I can supply you the goods.

Are there any JBL speakers like this that be more WAF acceptable for a multi use room? Also, does JBL have any horizontal centres (unfortunately I cant go with 3 across the front)?

JBL PRO speakers will not be the speakers you are looking for.

JBL does make Home Theater speakers too.

Build a box for the 328C and seal it to the sheetrock. It would probably be only be a three or four inches off the wall to clear the driver basket from touching the concrete.

This would be your slimmest mounting option available.
how would 328C play along with 4722N and also 4 SCS8 that are mounted on ceiling?

From SCS 8 specs:
Quote:
Consistent 120° x 120° broadband pattern control
This 120 degrees x 120: does this mean it goes 120 degrees width wise and also height wise?

My rrom is 12' wide and I wish I had more space for 3 4722N because I have subs in b/w LCR. I don't see any sub on the front so they will fit fine. 4722N are 30" wide so from 11'(132"), you'll loose 90" right away assuming speakers are put together and there isn't even an inch of space b/w them.
Since you have extra 42", this gives you plenty of gap b/w LCR. Plus if you toe in L/R, it will give you few more inches.

I can't tell you how 4722N with compare to yours but I like them very much. Movie experience is amazing. Of course, you'd need to make sure that you do good room treatment as well which I don't see. Doesn't matter how amazing the speakers are, if your room is not properly treated, it won't perform any where close to what it should sound. I'd recommend that you first focus on treating your room and then make the move if you feel the need.

Just fine. The 328 uses the same driver IIRC so it's essentially an in-wall version of the scs8

I picked up an older 2384 horn and 2430 CD from the old 4622 cheap. We built a center to go with my 4722's with some JBL M115-A's I had here Im using the 4722 network for now but this will be running active with an XLI 2002 likely with the DSP for the 4622n. Im using the DSI 200 amps on my 4722 and the XLI 2002 is pretty much the same thing as far as I can tell... It sounds awesome and it should be a nice match with my 4722's

It's an exact copy of my 4722 aside from the 4" port but they have the same area as the the 4722, bracing and fill were all done the same from 3/4" MDF and we just went with flat black paint...

The 2430 sounds a little warmer than the 2432 and I like them both but I cant stop thinking about going with the 2453H SL...

Some pics of my setup that will be changing a lot soon

Those on the side are modded and greatly improved JRX 125's and the source of the 15's for this project... The top is an EWAVE based on a 12" EV and a 15" JBL car sub... The cabinets were flipped over and a partition built to isolate each woofer... The top chamber is 1.8 cu ft dual 2" ported to 80 HZ and high passed at 80. the lower camber is 3 cu ft ported to 27 HZ and actively crossed over at 80 Hz with a single 4" port... We are building 2 more subs with the same $79.00 JBL 15 to go up front between the center and 4722's and some much more solid shelves and a quasi "baffle wall" between the L/R/C... OR some racks to hold all the gear and theat will be thee "baffle", but Im leaning towards moving all that to another room aside from the AV processor and my DBX...

We will be doing an 8" seat riser probably with more subs in it under the couch but I have 2 12" JBL "car subs" in boxes behind the couch that are awesome that aren't going anywhere Or possibly just stuff it with fiberglass and use it as a bass trap... Even in this small space this system kicks ass

Hello -

This seems the best place for my question -

I would like a killer loud system mostly for music -

Looks like a pair of the 4722's along with a single 4642A subwoofer driven with crown amps would be good in a medium to large room.

The room is 27 x 45 with 12 foot ceilings.

Suggestions?

Thanks -
