Great pictures. I've never seen the 1000's. What year did you buy them?

Ok... I had to go back and re-read your response. I didn't upgrade the mains to 1000's I kept the MW, I'm looking at a pair of upgraded Walsh 2-2000 from the factory outlet, the price is great for what you're getting.

Great pics. Are the speakers on top of the media center "front heights"?

They are set up as Atmos ceiling speakers because they are Walsh 2000's Omni's. They can also be used as front heights as well. They work well because some of the sound is bouncing off the ceiling and due to the Omni design. John built them for me for my Atmos setup.

You have an awesome setup! I'm looking to get some ohm speakers just not sure what to get, I have a fairly small awkward living room, I'm thinking probably the 1000 that way if I move I would probably still be good. jjref do you run a sub with your setup? Or do the ohms do well enough?

I have a small sub but the Ohms do very well on their own.

Best to call John at Ohm and describe your layout and needs and he can recommend a nice solution. Tell him you are on AVS

I feel they are excellent as well for many reasons but what's really nice is that John is an expert and a pioneer in the speaker industry and he has an uncanny ability to figure out your environment and come up with some very unique solutions. You can't go wrong with all this coupled with their return policy.

Can you post the link to the youtube video? Also let us know how you make out.

This was an excellent video! First, the kid's name is Evan and he works for John Strohbeen the owner. If you ever talk to Evan you will quickly see that he has the passion and knowledge to be John's protégé. When you talk with John, you quickly hear the voice of experience and knowledge that seems to be lost today. If you read up on John, you will see that he really is one of the great speaker pioneers, the "real deal"!

I was also at the Audio show and I agree, and I told John and Evan that I thought the Ohm speakers sounded as one of the best at the show and that's not because I own them.

My story is that my 2nd wife had a pair of Ohm Walsh 2's from the 1980's and she didn't have an amp to drive them so she was using them as a coat rack as you walked into her apartment. When I saw them for the first time, I said, "Hey I know what these are lol". We got married, bought a house and when my current infinity speakers disintegrated from old age, I called Ohm and like you found out they were in Brooklyn. Since I live so close, I was able to bring my old Walsh 2's for an Walsh 2000 upgrade and worked with John to create a system for my Atmos setup. Now I can tell you that there is nothing like sitting down with John Strohbeen on a hot day in his factory in Brooklyn discussing speakers! It was so much fun that you would think you needed to buy tickets for such an experience!

Anyway, when you think of Atmos sound, you don't think Ohm speakers but I have to tell you that I have one of the best sounding Atmos setups using these speakers that John customized for me.

I think that one of the reasons for marring my wife was because she had a pair of Ohm speakers but either way I highly recommend them!

I have had my original Walsh 2s for many years. A few years ago I purchased a 2nd set to use in a surround setup. After speaking with the factory I sent back my originals to be upgraded to the to the latest standards. I now have 4 ohms for my system and an Ohm center as well. I just love the sound of the Ohm speakers. I cant say enough about John Stroben the founder of Ohm. I am getting ready to exchange my center for the newer 2000 series center channel.

[QUOTE=jrref;51315617]Got it. I have walsh 2000 mains and 2-2000's as surrounds and they are awesome!
See my picture attached.[/QUOTER

I also have front & rear Ohm Walsh 2-2000 series speakers. I am getting ready to trade in my original Ohm center for the new CF-2000 center. It has the same driver as the speakers. I am driving these with a Marantz SR6011 receiver. I also have the Oppo 203 4K player hooked to my Sony XBR65X930E. I just connected the TV to the receiver with a Celebrity fiber optic HDMI. I was using a active 50 ft HDMI. what a difference.

Originally I had the center with the micro walsh driver and although it was very good, I couldn't get over feeling that there was something just not right with my setup. I then went back and spoke to John and they built me the ohm center with a 2000 driver. Mine was the first production prototype. When I connected it, I could instantly hear the tonal difference and everything blended in perfectly. John also built me two walsh 2000 satellites with the Omni tweeter that i'm using as front heights for Atmos. I live in a condo so I can't install speakers in the ceiling.

I ordered my 2000 series center channel from John the other day. They are making me a custom cabinet to fit on top of my piano where I have the existing speaker. I can't wait to try it out. they made me a 16 x 11 x 10 in high unit. Good price with a trade on my original walsh center

Well after a long and extensive search I found something that meets my requirements and will work in my new setup and room configuration. I am in no way saying the Ohms are not great speakers they are great speakers however, to achieve the performance I need I would have to move up a few models in the current line-up. I could not in anyway justify making that move. So... here we are.

I really don't want this become a discussion about speaker "A" vs. speaker "B" etc... this is really not about any of that.

Has anyone used the SATellite Model 4 speakers?

I'm thinking of buying them for 7.1.4 surrounds but unsure. I don't own any Ohm speakers to date but am 90% sure I will buy the tall 2s or 3s...probably 2s due to budget. It's for a dedicated theater setup in my basement and my space options for surrounds aren't great so I'm thinking of mounting the surrounds on or close to the ceiling. It's an open area so I don't have an side or back walls.

I haven't used them before but you could call John at Ohm he's very helpful you could even send pictures and he will recommend what he feels is best. I have been wanting Ohm speakers for awhile and I'm happy to say I just purchased a pair of Ohm Walsh 2000s I haven't received them yet they are pretty busy but they said I should have them mid December. I'll definitely be posting impressions here as well.

One more question for you Ohm owners. I heard Ohm Walsh speakers many years ago when they sold in stores and I fell in love with them. I couldn't buy them at the time, but now am in a place where I am buying new speakers and want to get a pair of the tall 2000s. However, while I listen to a lot of music I want these to double duty for a theater. I am building out a 7.1.4 atmos system and it may be that the walsh design is not good for atmos? I can live with using non-ohm surrounds and overheads and not having the speakers match but I want'ed to buy three 2000s for the L/C/R...but maybe that is a bad idea?

Here is my incredible Atmos setup using Ohm speakers. The only thing you need is standard Atmos ceiling speakers or call John and see if he can make a solution that fits your space.

Just got my 2000's in today! I guess I'm basic (and it matches the decor I like) but these things are beautiful in black and yet I was never able to find a photo, so here's one for others. These are my Vader's lol anyway just getting them connected need to start the break in period, from the reviews I've read these things really start to open up a few months in.

@hingerson ....wow, those are unique as most of the Walsh XXXX models you see are wood grain finished. Its hard to tell but from the picture it looks like you see no wood grain and that the finish is an egshell of low lustre paint of some kind?? Is this correct? Was there an up charge? What size of a room will you have these in? Please post frequent updates on the break in and how they sound...I have Tekton Lores and I've been considering buying a pair of 2000s or Magnepan 1.7i s just for something different.

I have these in Cherry in an Atmos configuration. Absolutely fantastic sound field.

@jrref .....that is a really nice looking set up...which walsh models are those? It appears you have the front of them about 18" out from the wall?? How would you describe their overall sound from your listening position when playing just the two of them in stereo? How are they for piano, acoustic guitar, voices? Is the soundstage wider and deeper than the speakers. Sorry about all the questions but there is just so little written about them and then are on my short list for consideration....thanks
