Town Home media room help!

Hello Audio Gurus!

Yet again, I turn to y'all for guidance. My wife and I are in the process of renovating a town home that we recently purchased. This was a foreclosure property and my wife promised that after all of my work painting, fixing electrical and plumbing issues laying flooring, tile etc, I could finally put together a media room/living room. Until now I have just had a 2 channel system (Aperion Intimus Towers) but am looking to move to a 5.1 system. I need to find a bookshelf system and receiver to make this happen!

Relevant info:
Room dimensions: 14.5' long x 12' wide x 8' tall, openings on two walls and a staircase on one side (crappy diagram included)
TV: TBD (wife wants the Vizio M70-C3, this will not factor in to budget)
Subwoofer: SVS PB1000
Usage: 80% tv/movies/gaming 20% music
Budget $1300-$1400

Requirements:
Bookshelf system
Clarity at lower volume levels
"Not huge"
"Somewhat attractive"
AVR supports streaming music from my MBP
AVR supports 4k video

Currently looking at Ascend CMB 170 L/R CMT-340 C and HTM 200 surrounds, AVR Marantz SR5009 ($499 on Accessories for less) , however am wide open to suggestions. Please have at it!

Somewhat attractive pretty much leaves out the ascends.

Why not get some aperion fortes since you already have aperion speakers? Unless you dont like them.

Nht super ones and zeros are great looking and sounding speakers. There are many others also.

Look at the EMPTek R5Bi, these are quite attractive and only $225 shipped a pair.

Another option, although more expensive, would be the Hsu HB-1 and HC-1, about $920 for 5 speakers:

The Ascends are great too, if you're ok with their plain-Jane looks.
