Of course you can. My receiver doesn't even have Audyssey or any other auto-calibration tools, just plain old level matching by ear, and my horn loaded center works perfectly with my silk dome fronts for HT.

Thank you for your inquiry.

_______, that is correct, the pricing is in USD currency. Unfortunately we don't currently have any Canadian pricing as our billing system is based in the US. I do apologize for the inconvenience in regards to the pricing.

Fluance Sales & Customer Support

I appreciate your answer.

What you posted is exactly my problem with them.

The way to do international business for them should have been.

I.e:

5.0 speaker set up 1500CAD (or whatever they wish) - fixed pricing and then if our money tanked the way it did, they would have sold way more speakers to Americans (NAFTA) and probably Europeans (EFTA) too as the euro is pretty strong. that would've given them more business while not giving the impression to Canadian consumers that they were getting screwed because their buy would have been at a regulated CAD pricing not dependent on our OWN money devaluation.

They act like they only do business across the border, that's sad really there probably in Ontario for tax benefit I know that niagara valley as tons of them.

It's bad business both in form and factor and I know what I'm talking about way more in economics than sound

My 2cents

It looks like shop.ca carries these for $909CDN. I have no idea whether this is comes out better than purchasing from Fluance US, but I thought I'd throw it out there for my northern AV brothers. Disclaimer: I have no connection with shop.ca, Fluance or Tim Hortons, just trying to be helpful.

Well they are in. Only listened for about an hour, I will let them burn overnight. Going to get several days of listening in before I make any comments. Both the r55ti and fluance signatures were packaged nicely. Fluance uses UPS which banged up the box pretty good, but they were double boxed so it wasn't an issue. Not a scratch on the RBH boxes, who use Fedex. To me the RBHs were boxed up better, but both came out fine. Here are a few pics

Unfortunately it doesn't make a huge difference.

Its about $1045 after tax vs $1054....so a $9 savings.

the $1299 5.0 package comes to $1495 vs $1513 so a $18 savings.

It's nice to see a CDN price though.

Does this figure in the use of the $70 off coupon on Fluance site? Using a 1.4 conversion rate, this brings Fluance.com price to about $1300 CAD...

Also, if you wanted to purchase them from Shop.ca, consider first going to a site called Ebates.ca - linking to Shop.ca gives you 8% cash back - or it should. This is currently a double cashback offer, not sure how long it is on for. Fluance doesn't appear to be listed on their exclusions and nothing about a maximum cash back amount. OR you can earn Aeroplan if you just go directly to Shop.ca.

I am not affiliated with Shop.ca or Ebates.ca, but I have used Ebates.ca alot to get cash back (to your Paypal account) when shopping on Amazon, Ebay, Shop.ca and others.

Yes, I was factoring in the 10% discount from the fluance website.

Cool, just wanted to make sure.

I'm now considering taking my own advice and going the EBates.ca ---> Shop.ca route - get 8% cash back, which ultimately makes that the better way to go (over Fluance.com), plus paying with my CC I get 2% cash back (on the after tax total); so, theoretically, it ultimately would cost me $1,378 CAD after everything (I am in NB, which CURRENTLY has a 13% HST rate).

Sorry to divert the discussion from performance of these beauties. I too am interested in the center channel performance as most of my usage, as noted, is HT/general TV watching. Eagerly awaiting more impressions from folks who've put them into use.

No. No one has even tested yet but just looking at the towers and the center, they seem mismatched.

I don't think anyone has tried their signature series center and bipoles yet. If they have, they need to come foward! I did noticed when I was looking at their signature series bipoles they have port in the back. Why why why??? Whats the point of the port if they are going to be flushed against the wall? Also I noticed the new signature bipoles have woofer in the middle of enclosure and tweeters on the sides as opposed to their lower line with both woofer and tweeter both at the sides of enclosure. Any reason the differences? If you look at aperion audio the intimus bipole has woofer in middle and tweeter on sides but their higher end bipoles have both woofer and tweeter on sides. This can confuse people which is a better bipole layout. Only reason I can see woofer in middle being beneficial is on rear wall in 7.1 since it seems more direct sound like monopole than other way around?

Also any of you with both emp tek and fluance test fluance speakers by itself vs emp teks with subs and compared that way?

How about some quick first impressions soon as you heard it for few seconds soon as you hooked it up or so before the break in. Its nice to hear those impressions before the actual review of the speakers.

I wasn't overly impressed with either, but granted I wasn't feeling great last night. The sound of the r55ti defenitely seemed more laid back. The soundstage was more narrow and I could easily place the speakers location. The midrange was very nice and tight. Although it seemed over emphasized, especially in more bass heavy tracks.

I only listened to the fluances briefly but they sounded more airy with a larger soundstage. I didn't think the mids were not as tight and were also a little overemphasized.

I thought my Sierra were defenitely better as far as better reproduction of highs with a larger soundstage. The mid range reproduction was tight, but not as much umpf as the larger towers as would be expected.

This is only about 30-45 minutes of listening last night and I didn't feel well, so take it with a grain of salt.

Expect much more probably by the weekend. Again, these opinions will probably change some with breakin and more listening time.

Great first impressions! Definitely rest up and get better cause we all expect more critical listening when you can. I do not doubt that the sierras are going to be better especially in the mids and they should be with well known seas drivers and price you paid for them. Also the knock test or measure for resonance if you can. The sierras should be barely any if any cause they use bamboo so you probably won't feel anything.

Another thing just came to mind worth experimenting if you have time. I wonder if you wire the fluance speakers using high freq terminals only to disable the 8 inch woofers and maybe crossover the highs at 100hz to test out the mids/highs? My opinion here is most people are going to want to buy fluance if they listen to 2.0 music or do not want to purchase a subwoofer since the towers supposedly goes down to 35hz.

I am VERY curious about that spec. Seems a bit optimistic for this price range...but who knows these days, with the ever-decreasing cost of production thanks to globalized labor.

That should be easy for twin 8" woofers in a big cabinet.

Yeah I'm curious also, but its possible especially if the sierra 6 inch seas driver can reach down into the 40s, I don't see why 8's can't......especially with 2 of them. But the low price has me wondering the quality of the driver and crossover itself. I'm hoping when playing low frequency the drivers isn't distorting when playing loud at least. Are any of the current owners afraid to open up the speakers and take some pics?

I was wondering the same thing. I have yet, after all these years of having my beta 50s, found a tower I'd buy under a grand that sounded a grand better. Not saying my beta 50's are the end all of speakers, but the have served me well. As I said in my previous post, I may be looking to get another pair of towers. These & the Elac's were what I was considering. I hope a beta owner shows up & chimes in on a comparison.
