Question about Polk Audio 255c-RT

Hi guys,

Just curious, what makes the Polk Audio 255c-RT a center channel only speaker?

I was offered by an audio store to purchase 5 of these for $250 per speaker. Just wondering what the difference is.

Thanks!
Justin Shank

A center channel speaker is usually designed to radiate sound correctly when placed in a horizontal position, whereas most speakers are designed for proper sound dispersion when placed vertically.

So is it possible to use it as left and rights?

It would be quite possible to use a Mercedes Limo to haul garbage in, but it might be kind of stupid.

Using a center speaker for anything other than as a center speaker is a very poor idea, IMO.

Better late than never, this speaker makes a great front or rear height array as well. The drivers have no idea that they are in the center alone or paired with a friend on either side of the listener. IMHO
sigpig likes this.
