Apparently they'll split 'em if you email them directly (iirc from some other thread about this).

Sure you do! Seriously, I was looking at doing three New Phils and then kept reading all the rave reviews of the BMRs and the cost differential between a pair of either made me change to a pair of BMRs. I was thinking I get a third for the center but the C2 fascinated me. I may still get a third BMR but for now I have no complaints with the C2 and synergy with the BMRs for movies.

If you have room for the T1s you have room for the T2s

Thats like saying, I can take that average looking girl and spend $50 on her for drinks, but I really dont want to take the hot girl out and spend $100 for drinks

I started with 5.1 in 1989.

Been there done that!

I'm happy where I'm at.

I've always maintained your first surround system is rarely your last but at least I wait 10 years or so before the bug bites again.

Usually though it wasn't so much the speakers as dead AVRs and improved picture quality that prompted the change.

I've only changed the 5.1 speaker part of the equation 3 times in 30 years.

Still on 1080p for the TV (plasma) and AVR and perfectly happy.

Not replacing the TV or AVR until they die.

My T2 pair arrived today. Was working in Chicago and couldn't get home til about 8pm, just after our 10-week-old went down for the night so I haven't had a chance to put them through a proper test. Having said that, initial impressions are that they take the things that wowed me about the B1, and add in a very robust amount of power. Complex music does not phase these. I'll spend tomorrow playing music at "daytime" levels, but I'm pretty excited so far. Really, really love this tweeter.

They are unexpectedly large. Yes, I measured and realized they are large, but I did not comprehend their immensity until seeing them in person. I'm not complaining. For reference, the TV is 65", and that's the SVS SB13-Ultra on the end. Yes, I have the Boston AVR I'm using for power just sitting on top of the sub :P Not elegant, but it is just about a perfect fit.

Can you re-jigger your layout and increase the distance between each speaker? They're awfully close together. You'll widen your sound stage and improve imaging. You want to base it off your MLP distance. The target reference is about 30 degrees if part of a surround system.

Will the C2 match up ok with the B1 or T1? Clear dialogue is very important and this would be primarily HT use. I have VTF3 so I don’t necessarily need towers.

Wondered about that. I've got plenty of space on either side of the TV, put 'em each out about as far as I dare. I'll have to play a little bit with toe-in tomorrow. As-is, imaging is damn near perfect if you're right in the middle, but it's a little finicky if you move much to either side.

It might not, if you like to play at very loud volumes.

However, I think you could probably combine the C2 with a Chane A1.4, or an HTD Level 3 bookshelf.

Or, for just $22 over the price of the B1, get this fabulous dual-woofer bookshelf:

~ Are you a "geek hobbyist" obsessed with squeezing out that last 5-10% improvement? The economy will thank you...especially the Chinese one. Or are you more of a get-set-and-forget "casual user" who simply wants to increase your enjoyment of movies, TV and gaming? Relax, HT isn't rocket science, nor does it have to cost an arm and a leg---especially if you ignore the aforementioned vocal minority. And remember to smile...it's just a silly hobby, after all. :)

Yep, that's the big drawback of using a phantom center.

Emotiva supposedly doesn't do sales anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if at least some of the Factory Renewed are actually new, so they can keep that myth up. It may be like the "open box" and "chip and dent" Klipsch available on ebay that are unopened brand new speakers. At least my "chip and dent" were.

Wife took the kiddo out for the day, so I've had some time to blast music towards my face at levels I won't make a habit of listening at. I do have a few direct comparison notes to the B1. As the specs would suggest, the T2 are more efficient. I've got my receiver volume at around 60, and it's borderline uncomfortably loud. With the B1, I had it up closer to 67 (the volume on my power source, the Boston AVR7120, is set at "0" (I think the range is something like -80 -> +20)). Playing the same set of music, the T2 retains everything I was impressed with on the B1; namely; mids and highs. That tweeter is crazy detailed, and I *love* it. Boston's old VR tweeters used to be my favorite, everything else was "meh, just a tweeter". I *thought* that I liked the tweeter in the B&W 685s2 that I tried out. The Airmotiv tweeter is glorious.

What the T2 brings to the table, then, is power and composure. At volume 60 for me, they are just below the point of discomfort in terms of volume, and they show no signs of distress. The "mess" that I heard at higher volume with the B1 and complex tracks is completely gone. I haven't noticed any added "warmth" with the larger woofers, which is good news as far as I'm concerned. Just much, much better handling of complexity and loudness.

In all honesty, the T1 probably would have met all my needs. I can't imagine I pushed these things beyond 25% of their potential this morning, and I can't imagine I'll ever want to go any louder. Having said that, there's no way I'm returning these now that I have them. Like opting for the big burly V8 over the V6, having the potential extra power capability is comforting. The B1 would, in comparison, be a very nice turbo 4.

For those interested, I am using the Audyssey "Flat" EQ after calibration and have them crossed over at 60hz. I have not bothered comparing with Audyssey "on" vs "off".

Even the T1's were bigger than I expected...

And my God, the VTF3 - Mk5's were monstrous - WAF alert on that for sure.

Answer: NONE

"Beast" mode

Chane's A2.4 was so good, clear -detailed..but the C2 dominates my Chane's A2.4
