That site also has a review for the Dayton MK402:

Absolutely love the budget Dayton speakers. I've been recommending them to online acquaintances for nearly a decade.

I bought my 11 year old a set of these (MK402) for Christmas to use on his computer desk. Hooking it up with the 60x2 Dayton DTA-120BT. He can bluetooth with his ipad and also use them for PC sound.

Not the most expensive setup, but it's small and handy and we'll see if he takes to "the next level" of sound from what his cheap bluetooth speaker was providing. If I like them, I may setup a pair in my garage and pair them with a sub.

I'll let everyone know how this setup sounds once I get everything hooked up.
gajCA and Lp85253 like this.

I'd love to hear some impressions of these as a desktop setup. Thought about using these for my PC.

I am using older AC powered Tannoy Active speakers which look very much like the Dayton MK speakers, for my 5.1 playback at my computers, for examining 5.1 material remastered for DVD and Blu-ray release. A large 15-inch sub-woofer is located below my computer table and everything is fed by an OPPO 105.

It is a very impressive sounding setup, so I would think your proposed use of the Dayton's would also deliver very good sound, given your environment is reasonably good, acoustics wise.

If you're looking for a small footprint type of system that's not very expensive, I cannot recommend this setup enough. Sounds way better than it has any right.

As I've seen other reviews say, the treble is sometimes a bit much, but it's easily dialed back. Otherwise, that little 4" woofer is pretty spectacular (given the price) and the sound is clear and detailed.

Right now I'm using a set of Pioneer BS-22's with a Kinter Class T $30 amp on my PC, but I could easily sub in the MK402 and have a fantastic setup for right around $100.

Thanks for this. I have the Overnight Sensations that I'm ready to build for the PC setup but this would certainly be faster, even if the sound wasn't the same. Pairing with either a Dayton 2.1 amp or a Lepai 2.1 with a 5" subwoofer (Voxel).

FYI, the MK402X is now available, with an improved crossover to address some of the concerns with overly bright sound.

I just received mine yesterday.
