Thank you Zorba

After following your posts I finally ordered & received the Emotiva C1.
Have had it since Sunday & it is truly a great center.
Mentioned to you in another thread that I had Klipsch,Paradigm & Polk centers all Timbre matched"which I now agree with you is a fallacy".
I currently have the Polk S30,S35,Csi A4 Csi A4. Until I received the Emotiva the Csi A6 was the clear winner.
The Emotiva C1 immediately sounded great..it made s significant improvement especially in dialogue.
I have tried it with the Polk S15,S20,Rtia1 & Rtia3. It blends in perfectly!!
Now I am tempted to order the B1`s.

Although @Zorba922 and I don't see eye-to-eye or rather hear ear-to-ear on center channel and surround speaker ideologies, he spends a lot of time helping people new to the hobby. Despite our sometimes "spirited" discussions, I sincerely applaud his efforts, passion, and time that he devotes to helping others. Seeing people learning, improving their systems, and most importantly enjoying this hobby is what it is all about.

well said.. sometimes we get a little "ego driven"(pretty much ALL of us) in our assessments of hardware , but Zorba always seems to have time for those that are trying to improve their audio set ups..

He has certainly tried a lot of speakers. I enjoy reading his helpful, no-nonsense posts with a little wit thrown in. Now, if I could just convince him about the quality of modern DSP algorithms.

Always 'sound' advice for solid deals...

It's funny because his avatar always reminds me of these old ads for some reason...

I'm another one who was helped at the start from Zorba.
Although his recommendation didn't pan out his advice did help in making an informed decision.
Funny now. If I Google my chosen speaker brand his avatar shows up, Although I don't think he has ever recommended a Dali speaker.

Amp: Yamaha RX-V383

I wonder if @Zorba922 got banned as he has not posted since 12/24/18 yet he posted a review on Amazon on 1/8/19.

Hopefully he is just taking a break. I was away for two weeks and I helped me to get out of the forest for a bit.

Yeah, I was out for a week too and I never post when I'm away.

But I would expect Zorba to post here rather than his review of this:

I don't recall any thread where he'd have committed an offense that would result in a ban. It's not uncommon for Zorba to be inactive in the forums for a few weeks. Some of the regulars may recall him taking a leave of absence right around the time he and Geoff were auditioning the Q Acoustics 3020's and concept 20's. I'm sure he's doing fine and will be back soon enough.

Lee don't cut yourself short. You are doing your part in helping others as well. Same can be said for Mike. Of course, I could go on and on mentioning all of the guys here that really make a difference for those needing help. One of the reasons that I keep coming back!

Cheers,

Phil

Thanks Lee. You know that is the good thing about this hobby. That is, there is always something new to learn. Not to mention we learn more about ourselves along the way. But, hey it sure is a lot of fun.

Cheers,

Phil

Ha ha, that is a good point.

Maybe he's concentrating on his abs!

I don't always agree with Zorba, but he is an asset to AVS despite some of his hyperbole at times, (ie. 4ohm rating conspiracy, "any center but the matching one,' etc.).

I guess I am guilty of hyperbole too!

BTW, I once got banned on here.

One second I was on and, boom, I got a "you've been banned" notice and couldn't access the site.

Sent an e'mail IIRC explaining to the MOD that he should ban the guy I reported and not me!

The mod said, "oops, sorry," and I came back to annoy.

I don't report people ever but this was an exception.

A new member asked me via PM to test some bluetooth speakers and give them good reviews on AVS and he'd let me keep them or some such nonsense.

First of all I'm a dinosaur and don't do Bluethooth and secondly I can't be bought.

My dumb opinions are my own and honest, not faked.

Just as well that he is not here, as the praise may have swelled his head to the point of not being able to fit in his listening room!
