Which Paradigm in wall Speakers to buy

I am redoing my home theater. Currently I have 5 Sonance Symphony ceiling speakers and a HSU STF-2 Sub. I will be buying a Sony ES 5000 receiver. I would like to add 5 Paradigm in wall speakers and use 4 of the Sonance in ceiling for Atmos. I have no idea which Paradigm would be good for this set up. Any ideas? Thanks!

I don’t know the dimensions but it’s fairly large as home theater area is connected to kitchen with a counter separating the space. I would like to not go over $5000 for 5 speakers. I listen between soft and loud

Home Theater salesman recommended Paradigm CI Elite E80
What kind of change in sound quality would I get from switching from my five Sonance Symphony in ceiling to the 5 in wall Paradigm?
Would it be a huge upgrade or not really considering the cost of the 5 speakers plus installation
Thanks

Did you end up buying any speakers? I'm also looking at Paradigm in wall speakers. What did you get and how do you like them?
Thanks,

Did 3 of the above recommended speakers as in ceiling L/C/R....
Wasn't impressed.
They weren't 'bad', but for the $, i'm sure you can do better.
By no means am I an audiophile nor any kind of audio professional, but I know what my ears like. These were not it.

Used for TV, movies, & music. Range of music is mellow to very loud and aggressive.

Hope this helps

Ahh you put your L/C/R in the ceiling?? That's never impressive! Should have gone in-wall with backer boxes, oh well

Thanks,
I wound up doing a whole new home theater system. I bought 2 Paradigm 85F and 45C for center channel.
I also bought 2 Paradigm surround speakers for the rear and I am using my Sonance for Atmos

The Elite were made to be installed in ceiling(35 degree pitch for aiming), and I was told by the shop I got them from that doing boxes would muffle them.
Learned from that mistake...
They were originally purchased to satisfy the wife. She grew tried of staring @ towers. After awhile though even she admitted we needed 'more' again. WIN FOR ME!!
They will be utilized as Atmos speakers probably one day since they have been installed for years & I don't feel like repairing the huge holes in my ceiling anytime soon!

Wow, that shop leaves much to be desired.

That is contrary to everything I've ever read about wall/ceiling mounts.

Agreed! Though, I don't have back boxes on my ceiling Atmos speakers (Paradigm P65-R), and they sound and measure great.

What I was trying to say was I would never put L/C/R in the ceiling in the first place. You want the sound to be coming from the direction of the screen, not above you. Sure, they are angled, but that just puts you closer to on-axis, it doesn't change the direction the sound is coming from. Great idea to use them as tops and put something better up front.

Nor would I.

I was just commenting on that shop's comments on boxes. Sure you can get by w/o and depending on details there might be a natural effect similar in some installs.

Might not fix all the issues, but a proper box would only help. Certainly not make things worse.

Maybe they don't know how to do a proper box?

Yeah, I love the Anthem MRX 1120 they sold me, but it seems they just push as much Paradigm stuff they can on people w/ 'lower' budget options than what they really want to sell. If you go in there trying to get advice on stuff less than in the tens of thousands of dollar range, they look at you like you aren't worthy of their time. Thus why I don't really deal w/ them anymore.

Maybe i'll do back boxes for them just for ****s & giggles since like I said, I probably won't be removing them anytime soon.

Ended up w/ some Emotiva T2 & C2 up front now... pretty happy!

Sorry to go off topic, but hopefully this has helped the OP learn what NOT to do w/ his in ceilings!!
