Ultimate Nearfield stereo speakers for desktop?

I am in the market for studio monitors to be used at my desk mostly for music, watching movies and playing games.

I've done a lot of research and have chosen the Adam S2V's but since my dealer keeps delaying the shipment, I am now open to other considerations unless they are the best there is for my use.

The monitors should be powered, no larger than 7 inches, not interested in sub-woofers and should have DSP for room correction.

As I will not be using them for mixing/mastering, their only goal is to deliver the best one can hope for in terms of depth, stereo imaging, resolution and be a joy to listen to of course.

My budget is 4k $ and the only other speakers I've found to be on par are the Genelec 8331 but those are a bit over my budget and I'm not sure they're ant better sonically but definitely more compact and better suited for small desk use.

The speakers will be place around one meter from my ears in an equilateral triangle configuration.

Any suggestions are welcome.

The Adams are a much better option with the integrated DSP and 7 inch vs JBL's 5 inch woofer.

Also beats them in looks. thanks for the recommendation though.

Twice now after upgrading my Home theater speakers and AVR I have moved them up to my home Office computer. It might be a bit of overkill but I have an amazing HT quality sounding PC. It is also awesome for gaming with 5.1 surround but I just don't have time or desire to spend the hours and days I used to on shoot'em up games to be competitive. So when I pop in the latest and greatest game it is a great experience until I die instantly

Anyway, its not nearfield and just a thought, but it might be worth a look on craigslist/ebay/avsforum classifieds for someone that upgraded their HT and is selling their old but perfect for PC stuff dirt cheap.

I feel infinite

I've owned the Solo 6 Be from Focal and it was an excellent nearfield monitor. No DSP though but it does have trims for highs and lows if needed. Super transparent. Needs a good DAC and cables. Balanced inputs only.

I always wanted to try the PMC twotwo.6 monitors. They have DSP and a DAC built in but $5k.

705 has integrated dsp as well, also probably more accurate. just add a sub and you will still be lower than $4k.

For $4K you can easily get JBL LSR 708P (I know it's an 8" woofer). They're good enough for Dolby Labs. They partnered with JBL and used them in their demo theater at CEDIA last year. Many audio and audio for video pros are using them. They measure extremely well and sound great. LSR 7 series is trickle down M2. Pretty hard to beat IMO.

I've heard ADAM speakers and didin't care for them.

Yes sorry, my mistake. 7 series have built in eq/dsp.

3-way coaxial is probably ideal for nearfield from an imaging standpoint, so Genelec 8331 was a good start, I wonder if some dealers would offer a discount?

Otherwise you could look at the Kef R3, although you will need to buy an amp/DAC or stereo receiver/amplifier.
