A mid level option that sits between the Prime and the Ultras. Question is, how do they sound?

How do they sound? Bright ... that is their house sound.

As an aside, if I were Pinnacle, the speaker company, SVS would be in court tomorrow, in response to a restraining order.

New Speakers---SVS Pinnacle Floorstanding

So inefficient for a 5 driver tower...

I heard someone say they had fixed the brightness. I think the tweeter is different? Dunno. I’m not the one to try these :P

Leave it at 8 ohms and call it a day :)

Free returns as you know.

I can't tell if there were any changes to the tweeter or woofers though the midrange is new compared to the one in the Prime Tower which actually measured very well and doesn't scream "bright" by looking at the measurements in the link, (though that seems to be the AVS mantra).

The gloss black version is only 10% less in price than the Ultra tower. $1800 per pair vs. $2000

If the Ultra is simply a better speaker, what’s the point in saving 10% when you’re already in this price range?

Hah. I don’t think I’d ever like to house an SVS product.

I have my hands full as it is. Eventually my KLH’s will come in KLH ran into some trouble apparently.

I do wonder who will be the first to take these under their wings though.

Leave it at 8 ohms and call it a day :)

Can't "fix" brightness with a metal dome tweeter, that is their natural characteristic, to be on the bright(er) side. Fatigue will not take long to set in, in my uneducated [I've never heard 'these' SVS speakers] opinion.

Brightness is not a function of dome material. There are plenty fabric domes that are bright and plenty metal domes that are not.

It is the SVS Prime bookshelf that some tend to complain more about brightness -- it has a rise between 1 khz and 3 khz

Energy RC-70 and others in the RC line are aluminum dome tweeters that are considered laid back with rolled off highs.

Isn't brightness what people want for movies? All the reviews of cinema speakers mention that bright forward sound is whats desired, and a warm laid back speaker sounds dull.

Anyone know how successfull SVS are with their speakers? I wonder if in a few years they will be known just as much for their speakers as their subs? They still seem unique in their very generous home trial, and seem to have much higher mindshare than most other ID companies.

Not one metal domed tweeter has been considered "not bright". It is the nature of the design and building materials.

I'm considering these puppies. Currently running Polk RTiA9's driven with 550w/ch. and I haven't been impressed with them. My sub is an SVS PC13-Ultra. I feel like I might get more out of the midrange with the Prime Pinnacle's, while my sub takes on the low end responsibilities. Thoughts?

If it helps at all, my room is 16'x13'x8' with one side overlooking downstairs.

Sent you a PM Mike on some RAAL speakers that regularly go for $5500 for the front three that a desperate guy wants $2200 for in Miami.

Note that most his posts have indeed been gear for sale so you might want to ask him about that.

Very high quality gear mind you.

If someone's hearing can't handle harsh treble for music then it won't work for movies too, sound is sound. Actually for treble sensitive people bright sound can be even worse with movies than with music, depends on the actor but some voices in a screamy dialog can be more irritating to those people than a vocal in music.

But many people who like bright sound here at AVS they still hate SVS speakers for some reason or they can have something for cheaper, I don't know but I know that AVS members hate SVS speakers
