recommendations for front three

I am slowly building my home theatre, have a dedicated room, around 19 x 15 and am planning on purchasing only the front L, front R, and center speaker at this time and adding surrounds next year.

listening: around 95% movies/tv, perhaps 5% or less music
budget: $2000 for front three

I do not care about Atmos and will probably stick with a 5.1 or 5.2 set up.

I am currently thinking:

3 JTR single 8HT, or
KEF Q550s with Q650c

would love to hear recommendations within my budget or whether the ones listed above would be good.

I just noticed this in the PSA cart: "Excluding tax & shipping". This pushes the price too far above your budget cap. Sorry 'bout that.

(I mistakenly assumed that PSA's speaker prices - like their subwoofer prices - were "all in" prices.)

-- Edit --
The JTRs should be very good for HT. Another option is to assemble something from diysoundgroup.

I can also do a front two and add the three other speakers down the road.

Do you prefer towers or stand monitors for your LR? Edit: Also, are you coupling with a sub? If so, do you have a sub(s) or is that another purchase you're looking to make?

(3) JBL Studio 590's. They are on sale right now for $479 a pop which would put you under your budget. You won't find a better lcr combination for the price. Take one of the 590's and lay it horizontal for center channel or leave it vertical. monster speakers for the price.

If you have multiple seating areas around the room, Kef's concentric driver would be a plus for their excellent off axis response. If you like cranking it up to 11, You'll want to consider more efficient speakers such as Klipsch RP or above mentioned PSA.

Kef LS50,Q200C, Q100, SVS SB-2000, Denon AVR-X3400H, NAD 216, Panasonic 50" Plasma, Xbox One.
Bedroom: JBL Loft 50 , Loft 20, Bic F-12, Denon AVR-S710W, PS3, 32" Insigna LED.

If you're going with a sub (which for HT I assume you will), these would be stellar:

Good point! Seating is localized about 12 feet from the screen.

Also, you could do much worse that a pair of Emotiva T2s for your LR and their C2 for the center:

https://emotiva.com/collections/loud...ts/airmotiv-t2

https://emotiva.com/collections/loud...ts/airmotiv-c2

And this would leave you money to spare.

Display: Vizio P55-E1l Pre-pro: Marantz 7703; Amps: Emotiva XPA-2 Gen 2, Emotiva XPA-3 Gen 1, H/K AVR 520 (direct in to amps); Sources: Sony UBP-X700; X-box 1 S; Technics 1200 Mk II; Win10 PC for digital; Phono Preamp: Emotiva XPS-1; Speakers - LR: Philharmonic BMR LR, Center: Emotiva Airmotiv C2; Surrounds: Wharfedale Reva-2; Rear Surrounds: Wharfedale Diamond 220; Atmos: TF - Monoprice Alpha 8; TR - BIC VI-38; Subwoofers: dual Rythmik L22s

Three of those very nice JTRs will set you back $2700, no?

Unless you are put off by the looks the JBLs mentioned would be a great identical front three but I'd actually recommend the shorter Studio 580 $1050 for three allowing you to also get a great sub.

The JBLs will each have 30 percent more main driver area than the JTRs and the tweeter is similar to the design they use in their concert hall sound systems.

Free returns on the JBls if not happy.

That would be a big no go with a horn that can't be rotated unless there is only one listing position dead center of the tweeter.

Klipsch RF-62II, RC-500, RS-400, SVS PC12+,
Def Tech SC8000
Onkyo RZ820

A number of people in the Studio 5 series thread reporting fantastic results with that front stage of 3 of them. Some went as far as use 590’s for all 7 channels.

Shoots brah.

As long as the "center" is in its normal orientation it would indeed be fantastic. Lay it on its side and it would be "less" than fantastic.

Yeah, the 590's horn is asymmetric. It appears to be intended to have its widest dispersion in a horizontal plane. Laying it on its side appears to be suboptimal.

The JTR Single 8HT are a coaxial design similar to the Kef's concentric driver design. However, they'll blow the socks off the Kef, Klipsch, and PSA speakers mentioned if you really want to crank it up.

Jeff Permanian, from JTR, offers discounts on multiple speaker purchases. It'd be worth dropping him a line and seeing if he'd be willing to offer you a discount.
