Need help putting together a wonderful system

Hello wonderful folks,
I’m a big fan of your website and believe that you guys do a wonderful job! I’m a newbie 🙂 I'm in the market for a 7.1 home theater in a Box system. I’m open to a 5.1 system as well, just something that is “expandable” in the future if I end up moving for example. I'd like to have a high quality "future proofed" system. I've a 1000 sq. ft place with a soon to have LG OLED 77 inch tv. Im going to be using this system for watching movies and listening to music. I'm therefore looking for a "compatible" speaker set to go with it. I've reached out to two stores and here's what they have provided: Store 1:ELAC Debut F6.2, ea floorstanding speakerELAC Debut B6.2, pr bookshelf speakersELAC Debut C6.2, ea center channel speakerSVS PB-2000, Black Ash 12" 500-watt Powered Subwoofer Yamaha RX-A780 AVENTAGE 7.1 ch Dolby Atmos HT rcvr w.MCast Store 2: WINDSOR 10 SubwooferSR7012 AV Receiver Albany Bkshlf Spkrs Black Oak Beacon Surround Spkrs Story Center Channel Spkr Quincy Floor Spkr Black Oak The Quincy towers would be the front left & right; The Story is the center channel; The Albanys would be the left & right surround; The Beacons would be the left & right rear.——————————————————-
Do you folks have any thoughts on any of these two options? I’m open to others as well. At the end of the day, I'm looking for a high quality system that would last me for the years to come.

I’m seriously considering the following bundle. Anybody have any thoughts? I’m looking for the best bang for my buck and high quality system. Budget is 2.5 - 3.5 k and flexible. : Elac F6.2 Debut 2.0 5.1.2-Ch Dolby Atmos Home Theater System with Denon AVR-X4500H 9.2-Channel 4K Network AV Receiver https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07K336LB7..._0l6QCbBQ9MF99

I’m open to putting together a good system with a good quality amp, receiver and sub. Thanks in advance for any help that you could offer.

Your link gives a 404 at Amazon.

Fortunately, none of the systems you describe is a HTiB (home theater in a box) system. Those are packages that come from a single manufacturer. They may use nonstandard components (like 3 ohm speakers) and passive subwoofers.

1000 sqft is a large space. Whether the speakers would produce enough sound would depend on the listening distance. If you use the whole space, it may be a challenge. You may have to consider speakers like those from Power Sound Audio, which have high sensitivity and can be played loud. (They aren't pretty, though.)

The subwoofer may be a larger challenge. I doubt that a single SB2000 would be enough for that space. A pair of them may not be enough. That's where things can get very expensive. The most popular medium-range brands here are mostly Internet Direct: Hsu Research, Monoprice (Monolith series), Rythmik, etc. It'd be easy enough to drop a few k on just a pair of subs. (And these are not boutique brands.)

The second system that you list uses KLH speakers. That's an old name that has only recently returned to the market, under new ownership. I haven't read reviews of them. The Marantz SR7012 receiver is a good AVR. It's a 2017 model, so it's available at a closeout price (if you bought it separately) of less than half its list.

The AVR is where "future proofing" comes in. 40 year old speakers would be perfectly usable, if they weren't worn out or damaged. Newer AVRs have 4k passthrough, Dolby Vision support (like the LG OLED), Atmos, DTS:X, etc.

I'm not competent to specify a system for that space. Perhaps someone who is will chime in. I hope that 3.5k is enough for the class of system that you seek.

You gave the sqft. for your "place", but what is the dimensions for the room this gear will reside in and if it is open to other rooms/areas.

For a receiver, the Denon AVR-X3500 is currently on sale for $529 from it's $999 normal price. That's a very solid receiver, with speaker pre-outs and sub EQ HT for dual subs calibration.https://flash.newegg.com/Product/9SI...=WP_4_04042019

Subwoofer is one area where you want to go all-in, particularly for home theater in your case. Again, not knowing your room size, which is of key importance for a sub, I would take a hard look at the HSU VTF-3 mk5 hp subwoofer with the mind-set of buying two of them. A pair will be $1730/shipped and the VTF-3 is widely regarded as one of the best values for a 15" ported sub. http://hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-3mk5HP.html

So far we have the receiver and subs taken care of, which accounts for $2259. For speakers, the Infinity Reference line is back on sale again right now. These are very popular and well regarded speakers and are on sale just at the right time for you. The RC263 center for $200 is highly praised and the R253 towers are $200/each. Here's the link to all of the speakers in the line and on sale. https://www.harmanaudio.com/speakers...efn3=isSupport

What are the actual dimensions of the space? (Ceiling height included, if you can supply it.)

Oddly there are no speaker manufacturers any more in Massachusetts other than Ariel Acoustics but they are out of your budget.

Got to the stores and let your ears decide between the Elacs and KLH.

I would not buy a KLH subwoofer though.

Consider HSU, Rhythmik, HSU or Monoprice THX though SVS does make very good subs that are a hair more money than these other excellent brands.

You know anything different about New Egg and Denon's warranty and auth. dealer program? I would love to by the 6500h on new egg but Denon says they are not an authorized dealer and New Egg and game liquidations say you would get a full 3 year warranty.

I'm not aware of the full list of authorized Denon dealers outside of what is posted on their website. Newegg is listing this as having a 3 years parts/labor warranty. I would ask them and/or Game Liquidations if they are carrying the warranty. If not and Denon says they won't cover it, then there is some miscommunication on the part of the parties involved.

Fidelis in Nashua NH sells Elac's. Also Audio Video Therapy in Nashua NH sells Aerial, full lines of PSB, Totem, Klipsch, B&W, KEF and Paradigm. They are at the first exit over the Massachusetts border. They get lot's of business from Mass residents. Also no sales tax. They're always open Saturday and Sunday. Nashua is about the same distance from Pittsfield as Manhattan would be. (The parking is probably easier in Nashua, though.) Driving 2.5-3 hours each way isn't impossible, but you'd have to wanna.

You have a lot of options within that budget and can easily put together a very nice system. If you have audio stores in your area, your best bet is to go listen to as many speakers as you can. That would be the best way to determine what type of sound suits you best. Once you've determined that, we can help point you in the right direction.

If you have a good set of headphones, Crutchfield has an online speaker compare app which would allow to listen to several makes and models. It won't give you the full picture, but should be helpful determining what you like and don't like.

That is the sign of a first class retailer.

Bringing home floor models is how I chose my last set of towers; albeit in my case they were 1 mile away!

Still took three trips in the Miata to bring the two towers and massive center home though!

Geoff, I was tempted to post a smartass comment about the Miata, but I resisted. I resisted...;-)

I've had it since 1994, great little car...those towers wouldn't have fit in my wife's Acura TSX.

Someone tried to throw a brick through the driver's window years ago and broke the driver's side mirror so I had to replace them.

The stock mirrors are a bit goofy looking but the new ones changed the look of the car to my eye.

So, for a really good 5.1 system at $3.5k, this is what I would do:

Emotiva Airmotiv T1 - $498 a pair on closeout
Emotiva Airmotiv C1 - $249
Emotiva Airmotiv B1 - $229 a pair
Speaker total - $976

Rythmik F12 x 2 - $1786

Denon AVR-x3500 - $529 (NewEgg Flash Sale)

Total $3291

You could shop around some more an AVR (check out Accessories4Less) since there's still room in the $3.5 k budget. But this is all in, shipping included. NewEgg will charge sales tax, I believe, but the others don't. The Emotivas aren't the best looking, but in the price range for HT I doubt they can be beat.

I’m seriously considering this bundle.

Elac F6.2 Debut 2.0 5.1.2-Ch Dolby Atmos Home Theater System with Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A3080 9.2-Channel 4K Network AV Receiver https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J1Y2CRT..._YfNRCb3SPCMEH

The bundle is 25 % off the net sum of the products. I went to Best Buy magnolia yesterday and took a listen to Klipsch, Elac and another system. They were ok. They didn’t have Elac 2.0. Seriously, I’m getting tired and frustrated and wanting to pull the trigger on the bundle. Any thoughts anyone?

What I suggested will be FAR better for just a little more money. You will ultimately regret buying the Elac "bundle".

ok, thanks. What “best” receiver would you suggest? I know you said 3500 and to look around, but I was wondering what a “comparable system” you’d suggest? Thanks
