Lots of wall-mount options also available, if you are concerned with it being tipped over by rambunctious youngsters. That said, I'm sure there are ways to secure this type of mount, if that is the style you prefer.

It's a VIRTUAL channel unless stated otherwise.

Is the x1400 really just the same as the x1500 but just a year older? The specs for the x1400 don't specifically mention HDR10. Just HDR. Plus DV and HLG are firmware updates on the x1400 compared to standard on the x1500. The x1500 is $449 compared to $329 for the x1400.

Both have HDR10 and identical specs.

Here's an article announcing the then new 1500 and no new technologies/features/improvements are specifically mentioned.

So it would be okay to get the x1400H and know that I'd have all the latest needed specs? I wonder how long it would be supported via firmware updates?

That's certainly what I would do.

At some point the 1400/1500 will be replaced by, I'm assuming, a 1600...the only likely "improvement" I see coming down the pipeline in the near future would be 8k compatibility and I don't think firmware updates would be enough to bring either the 1400/1500 up to that spec.

So if you are planning on getting an 8k TV you are in a pickle but if you're like most of us who don't even have a 4k TV yet I wouldn't worry too much.

Of course there are workarounds with a 1080p set if you got a 4k set by simply doing alternative connections to the TV/receiver which is what I would do if for some reason my 1080p Plasma died and I were forced to go 4k.

I'm not getting rid of my 1080p receiver until it dies.

I'm frugal that way.

If the features are available on the 1500, chances are the updates are available. Just check for updates once you're setup. I know mine (Denon X3400H) ran a few updates when I got the WI-FI setup. I just let it do it's thing and I don't remember what the updates were specifically though.

Your center should be at the front of the entertainment center, not the back. So, another securing option would be better ...

Yep.....Love my Plasma TV. Got it fairly cheap too as they were being phased out. I believe my AVR is 4K compatible so I'd be ok if this dies and need to replace it.

Yes, when I set up the 1400 for a friend a few months back the firmware updates were one of the items on the menu prompts that were done automatically after you set up the wifi connection.

Easy peasy.

When I got my Denon SACD player fixed last month I noted the place also fixed Plasmas so even if mine "dies" I plan on getting it repaired rather than go the 4k route.

The 4K's are going for as low as $400 for a 50" ( in Canada ) so not sure if repairing it would be worth it. That said it's shown no signs of impending doom and no burn in so I should hopefully be ok for 10 more years.

Sorry for derailing the thread.

I'd be getting a 65" to replace my current 60" Plasma so more than likely I'd get it repaired as I have a feeling I'd only be happy with OLED after having Plasma.

The 4k QLEDs are nice from Samsung, (around $1500), my friend just got one, but they simply aren't as good as Plasmas IMHO.

If you plan to plug/unplug speakers a lot banana plugs make sense.

I use just plain 14 gauge pure copper wire and strip the wire to connect speakers to my amp/receivers.

For a 5 speaker setup 50 feet probably is not nearly enough so get 100 feet.
