RSL.

SVS.

Aperion.

Crutchfield has $10 returns. Very worth it as they give you 60 days to demo.

HTD.

Leave it at 8 ohms and call it a day :)

Uh... not really? I don’t generally recommend SVS as some people that have gotten the bookshelves have returned them due to being too bright. If you want good three ways, check out the Polk LSiM703 which is on sale for $700/pair. They aren’t bright though. If you want bright check out the Klipsch R series, the RP might be not bright enough.

There aren’t really many returnable three way bookshelf speakers.

And much less bright ones.

So you gotta pick your poison. Bright, three way, bookshelf, or returnable. Not many cover all 4.

Unless you intend to buy with the express intention of returning it, you will always pay for the “free” return shipping. Think about it. Nothing is really free, the manufacturer just factors in the cost of shipping into the retail price, making the product more expensive to begin with. so if you end up keeping the speakers - you actually ended up paying for return shipping that you did not use.

Instead of thinking of the return shipping as a loss - consider that you know know what you like and don’t like, and you next purchase will be better informed, and you’ll know you bought the best possible product.

That knowledge is what you “bought” by paying for the shipping, and it’s actually a pretty small price to pay

You could try Crutchfield's speaker compare app if you have a decent set of headphones. It won't paint the whole picture, but it could help determine what you like and don't like without buying and returning. Worth a shot as they have a wide variety of speakers at different price points.

Where are you located in case there is a local speaker maker near you or an excellent well known retailer.

I agree with what Russ says about SVS...a little on the bright side for me, especially the prime! Also, free return shipping mean the product you ordered is already marked up to pay for the 5-10% of returns!
