Advice needed for testing speakers

I'm planning to try several ID bookshelfs for the rear speakers in my 5.1. Currently running a Denon x3500h, and all PSA fronts (2 MTM 210ts, MTM 210c and a V1510 Sub).

Towards that end, looking for recommendations on how to test. I've got a multi-meter and am willing to buy inexpensive gear - say a dB meter for $20 or something. I'd like to get a pair for $600, but I also plan to include PSA's set.
