New Home Theater. Is this a good setup?

I'm building a new home theater. Room size is 13x19

It's basically just a Klipsch Reference Premier System. I know Klipsch is pretty popular here, but does this seem like a good fit for my room size?

Sub - Klipsch 12" SPL-120
4x Bookshelf - Klipsch Ref premier
Center - Klipsch Ref Premier
Atmos - Klipsch Ref Premier height speakers. Is this a good choice or should I do in-ceiling? I can do either.
Receiver - Marantz SR5013

My other choice was basically an Elac Debut 2.0 system, which would obviously be cheaper.

This looks like it'd be paired with a JVC x790, but I'm still debating on just going for the NX7. 127" Silver ticket high contrast screen.

Go with in ceiling if you can. Also might want to upgrade to a 9 channel AVR and do 4 Atmos speakers. Klipsch are good for HT but they have a love hate reputation. Up to you though, as long as you're ok with the sound then it's all good.

The sub is OK but it's not the best choice depending on how much it's costing you. If it's anywhere near $500 there's better choices for HT. Also for almost every room 2 subs can really make a difference in the overall quality and response for the bass.

Thanks for the advice on the 9chan/4atmos. I'll definitely consider that.

The sub is actually $600, so I assume that's an even worse buy. For $100 less I could get the SVS SB-1000 or the Elac 3010 for $449. I've seen both reviewed really well. Do you feel these are better value?

I'm buying everything I can for the setup from Best Buy Magnolia because I can get about 12-13grand in gift cards there, so it technically wouldn't be any money out of my pocket. Still not sure if I'll have to get the projector elsewhere or how long I'll have to wait.

If you want 5.1.4 Atmos, and insist on Marantz, you'd prefer an SR6013 to the SR5013. The 6013 actually processes 11 channels, and be expanded to Atmos 7.2.4 by adding an external 2 channel (stereo) amp. (Not a huge improvement over 5.2.4, but...) An adequate stereo amp can be had, new, for not much over $100. The SR6013 also has Audyssey XT32, which is their best retail room equalization software. That is bundled with SubEq, which can semi-independently equalize 2 subwoofers.

If you are limiting your source to Magnolia, I don't know what to suggest for the subs. (Mine are from Hsu Research, an Internet Direct company.) Maybe SVS. Preferably two. The larger the better, if you're doing home theater, especially if you like low frequency effects.

As usual, online advice encourages you to increase your budget.

Get ported subs for sure, and get in ceiling Atmos speakers.

If it’s all from Best Buy/Magnolia then definitely go with SVS subs. Multiple PB2000’s would be best.

Make sure your center channel is top notch. Lots of content going through there.

If you are really wanting an JVC 790 you should order one now, as I think JVC will be discontinuing this model soon. For your setup, the 790 will save you lots over the NX7 and do almost as good of a job. For speakers, I have never really been a fan of Klipsch and you can get SVS through the Magnolia stores. I would save the money from the NX7 and get a full SVS speaker and dual sub setup with 4 ceiling speakers, for a full 7.2.4 system.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. Everything is still in planning but I'll be pulling the trigger in the next couple weeks. I'm not set on anything other than sourcing everything I can via Magnolia or Amazon, but I'm always weary on buying things like this from Amazon.

With everyone's suggestions I think I'll go with 2x SVS Sub (Sb 2000), 4x SVS bookshelves, and 4x Def. Tech in-ceiling speakers and upgrade the receiver. Is the Yamaha A2080BL a good choice?

What would be the best choice for a center channel for say under $800? It will be almost exclusively for movies.

One more of the same bookshelf speakers you're planning on getting, to maximize consistency across the front soundstage.

Go with the PB2000’s, with sealed subs you lose a lot of needed SPL.

I can not recommend either the Prime Bookshelves or the Def Techs.

Klipsch RP is your best bet, and a way better choice IMO.

Monolith 12" subs are starting to win the battle against SVS PB's but it all comes down to price, either choice you can get a deal on is the way to go, both better choices than the slightly cheaper but capable Klipsch sub
d-rail34 and naphcon like this.

Denon AVR-X6500h Klipsch RP-8000f RP-440C (4) RP-150MS sides in parallel RB-51 rears, 4 JBL C67P pendants for atmos, 2 monolith 12" subs
Epson 5040UB, Sony Ubp-X700, AC infintiy T9, Nvidia Shield, 142" 2.35 silver ticket screen

Yamaha AVR's are very highly recommended, and one of the most reliable.

As for your sub choice, you really want to go with the ported models (PB-2000) for movie applications, as they will give you more output at the lower frequencies. This will give you a better overall experience. Especially with action movies (explosions, gun fire, etc.).

Lastly, as stated by the previous poster, you will get better results by matching your L/R with another bookshelf. If you're unable to fit the bookshelf in a suitable location (your speaker's tweeters should be positioned as close to ear level as possible), then get the matching center channel speaker. And I wouldn't really recommend the the SVS Prime either. The Ultra are a different story, but the price difference is pretty substantial.

As for the in-ceiling, you really don't have to break the bank there, so you could go with something like the Micca's. But, if you are indeed able to swing the extra $$, I'd recommend going with the RSL C34E's.

The room is finally *mostly* done. Still a few things left to do, but it's functional. It doesn't compare to many of the rooms/builds I see here, but I'm happy with how it turned out.

Had a few bumps along the road, mainly with the local company I'd hired to do the install. They were severely dragging their feet. I assume because this was a labor only job--I purchased all the items from Best Buy Magnolia because I had $15k in gift cards so it was all essentially "free". They kept pushing the date further and further to do things and I just got the feeling they wanted to push it until they had nothing else to do. I ended up saying thanks but no thanks and did everything myself with the help of family.

I made some changes to the setup:

-4x Elac Debut 2.0 Bookshelves
-4x Bowers & Wilkens Stands
-2x SVS Pb1000 (I know people were saying get the 2000's but these are incredible as is. I can't imagine 2x 2000's. My neighbors would probably hate me)
-Elac Center
-2x Klipsch Architectural for Atmos
-Marantz 5013 Receiver
-Panasonic ub820 4k/Bluray Player
-Panamax M4300 power surge
-125" (2.35:1) White Silver Ticket Screen
-Sony 295 Projector

-Front row seats - Row of 3 Valencia Tuscany Theater Seating
-Back Row - Loveseat Seatcraft Flex HR w/ Built on 8" Risers

-Rack - Strong FS Series 21U

-6x Acoustimac 24x36 Panels - not yet hung

-Still to be added: Zephyr Beverage Center (just received today) and a custom cabinet I ordered from Etsy to house the bev center with some shelving to store supplies and such. Entry custom curtains are being made and I pick them up later this week. Also still have some cable management to do at the rear of the room.

No idea how to embed images, so please excuse the links. Definitely not the best walk thru with pics, but I did take some shots along the way.

Here's the room before we got started. It is a 19x14 room with 9.5' ceiling at the height. It's a 3rd floor finished room.

Congrats on finally getting things set up, and sorry for the late reply. Looks like you got some great stuff to work with.

I'm far from an audiophile, but it sounds great!

Re: d-rail34 (I can't send PM since I'm a new user)

The Sony 295 wasn't on my list of choices initially. It was either the x790 or the nx5. I let the installer (who I ended up dropping and doing it myself) talk me into getting the 295. He didn't have much skin in the game since I was buying it from Magnolia, so I went with that. I wish I would've just gotten the NX5, but I'm still happy with the Sony 295. It's been great, but I do kind of wish I had that lens memory.

It definitely would've been a good idea to go with a 9 channel instead so I could upgrade later. I got the marantz 5013 again based on the installer recommendations and it was already on my list of 3 to get anyway. To top it off, Magnolia had it $300 off at the time. But just last week I was already saying to myself that I should've just gotten the 9 for room to upgrade later.

The subs though, I don't know if I would've ever had the need to upgrade lol. They are monsters and shake the whole room/chairs and aren't even turned up all the way as it is.
