Need help with a center speaker to match Elac debut 2.0 b6.2 bookshelves

I am trying to find a center speaker to match my setup. I ended up deciding on getting the Elac debut 2.0 b6.2 for front bookshelf speakers and a SVS PB-1000 for the sub. I have old Martin Logan MLT-2's for surrounds.

I am ready now to upgrade my center channel and would prefer spending less than $350.

I was going to just get the Elac c6.2 but from searching AVS and reading reviews it sounds like I could get something better for the same price. I've never tried matching different brand C/R/L speakers before so I could really use some help.

I was looking into Emotiva C1/C2, Ascend 340SE, or Elac Uni-Fi UC5. Or anything else someone recomends. If anyone has experience matching these elac bookshelves with a center speaker I'd greatly appreciate the advice/feedback.

I would try the matching center out and see what you think at least, you can get it Best Buy and have an easy return.

I believe the Emotiva speakers are being closed out, and if there are any C1s left, it would be a good choice.

My other suggestion would be the Chane A2.4.

5.1: Samsung PN60F5300 | Sony BDP-S1700 | Denon AVR-1713 | EMP E55Ti | EMP E56Ci | EMP E5Bi | Outlaw Ultra-X12

2.0: Apple Airport Express | Topping D50 | Parasound HCA-1500a | Chane A1.4

The best match for your speakers is the C6.2 or another B6.2. You should get the Elac center and decide for yourself. Don't rely on reviews alone as they can be misleading. The previous version was a little too recessed, but that has been addressed with the .2 version.

Where would I find the chane a2.4? I was looking last night for a site that I could order it from and couldnt find one.

It looks like bestbuy has the c6.2 so I guess the first step would be to try that out since I'd be able to return it if i dont like how it sounds.

Is there a center from Elac that is a step up from the c6.2 that I wouldnt have to worry about timber matching?

The C6.2 has dual 6.5 drivers and sensitivity of [email protected] so should fair quite well. Of course proper placement is very important for dialogue clarity. Note: Be sure to run audyssey or whatever room correction you have when you add the center.

I just recently bought a Denon AVR-X1400H so I'll be running audyssey when I set it up.

I think I let peoples reviews sway me too much on this center speaker choice. I'll pick up the c6.2 tomorrow and test it out.

I'm still only a few days into owning the B6.2 bookshelves so depending on how the center speaker works out I could still return them and decide on something else for a matching C/L/R set

All the hype I'm seeing on the Chane a2.4's and a1.5's.. Would it benefit me to just package the elacs back up and get the matching Chane L/R/C ?

I personally believe the Chanes are a better speaker. The bass is very comparable, but the Chanes have superior treble detail and imaging.

Definitely Chane if you're mostly doing HT/TV. Not sure how long before they start shipping or how much patience you have. Many people ran out of patience last time the updated their line as the release date kept getting pushed back so went with something else. Seems to be going that direction this time as well. If going to Best buy, you should listen to Klipsch RP, KEF Q and Polk S as well.

There you go again .... get the Elac and give it a good long listen. Your ears are the ONLY criterion that matters. If you like what you hear, then you can relax and enjoy your system. If not, revisit in a month.

It's a VIRTUAL channel unless stated otherwise.

Thank you guys for the suggestions.

Local best buy ended up not having the c6.2 in stock so I ordered online. Ships from just half the state away so it'll be here tomorrow 😁

SVS PB-1000 is suppose to arrive Monday, I'm getting excited making this step up from the old MLT-2 5.1 set I got for $200 on black friday years ago. These Elac b6.2's made me realize what I was missing lol I've always had quality car audio but HT is so much more satisfying.

One more question, i just figured out my reciever has XT. How noticeable would the difference be with these speakers in a small room if I upgraded to a AVR with XT32?

So, how are the speakers?

As to the AVR, why don't you address that later, if necessary.

It applies more filters and eq dual subs independently. That said the increase in sound quality won't be significant, but you'll get better quality components and pre-outs with the X3500 and up. If you're still in your return window on the AVR, upgrading to XT32 would be worth it.
